I notice when I get the envelopes the bar code on the inside sleve is rarely visable in the envelope window. The instructions didn't seem to say anything about it, so Idon't really bother making sure it is there.
Would I save them any time by ensuring it is visible? Can anyone from Netflix corp answer this?
The worst part is that currently Vista is about a 7 Gig install. It is slower than XP on the same hardare and the few fewatures that were not canned could nearly be XP SP3. At least with Linux or OSX you get lots of applications with the OS, Vista is like a 7 gig framework for future adware and spyware that try to be as _in_your_face_ as possible to compete for user attention (and ad $).
You can hardly find text editors for Windows that don't want to run on startup.
How do you think these cases go down at Yahoo.cn anyway? Does China tell Yahoo exactly why they need the data before hand? I would bet that Yahoo gets a court order with little more information on it than "This is a court order for the contents of userx@yahoo.cn's inbox" which is no doubt served to a Chinese citizen working in Yahoo.cn policy enforcement.
Were you under the impression that these come in on "human rights violation" letterhead?
People tend to think Linux is free like beer for the Enterprize market also, but in reality it is hardly feee. Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS starts at $1499.
But to play devils advocate for a bit, the free like beer "download editions" for most Linux distros have left a larger market of Linux admins to hire from. We are a mixed shop but most of the "new" guys into out Linux/UNIX deparment tend to prefer Linux becasue that is what they know. Everytime we lose an old Solaris guy, we get a new Linux guy. I don't think the days ahead are going to get any easier for Sun.
Those reporters broke the law in China, if Yahoo is to do business there they must also play by the local laws. The only other option is to stop doing business in China. If you are going to demand they boycott the Chinese market over human rights why stop at Yahoo? What about all the other US companies doing business there?
You sure have a strong opinion but I bet the cloths you are wearing and half the stuff in your house was made in China you hypocrite.
Yahoo has 2 options here. Follow the local law (cooperate) or choose to leave the Chinese market entirely (essentially boycott).
But I just have to ask, since we are so demanding of Yahoo why are we not asking the rest of the companies in the US to also boycott China in the name of human rights? Why single out Yahoo?
Granted there are other ways (streaming vid over TCP/IP etc.) but I feel sorry for any new company trying to enter the cable market. Even if you are running a small mom and pop company you still need franchise agreements, channel licensing, set top contracts, Internet infastructure, email etc.
There is a huge trend right now in cable mergers where even the _existing_ Cable franchises are being gobbled up by the top ~3 players. In satellite there are even fewer players and the barrier to entry is even higher.
I admit, I have seen a few more glitches since they raised the space to 256 meg, but for the most part yahoo mail has been available nearly always in the ~9 years I have been using the service.
First, it was dumb of MS if they used MPEG2 with licensing it first. Second, how much can a license to play back MPEG2 possibly cost per console? Should Lucent not just request the necessary fees instead?
I was going to mod you up but I decided to reply instead. For a toungue in cheek look at the creation of the earth (as described in Genisis) take a look at the Skeptic's Annotated Bible.
It makes some amusing observations on the literal meaning of Genisis:)
Given how reputable I am sure the.xxx sites will be, is it really a good idea to _mandate_ that people submit to them their (or their parents) personal/credit credit card information. How many of them are going to say "free" and then find a loophole to bill you anyway? Who is going to pay the millions for the orginization that is going to sort through all those complaints?
Further more, it is one thing to have age restrictions for models on these sites, but is it really apropriate to tell people they must be at least 18 years of age to view porn? I don't believe I have met one single person in my life who has never seen _any_ porn prior to the age of 18.
They are going to rewrite the 60% of the entire Vista code base and this is only going to cost them a 2 month delay in the release?? By this metric they could plan, design, rewrite, and test the entire 50 million lines of code in Vista from the ground up in only about 3 1/2 months!
and when you add in that everything's going to be insured, it makes finantial sense
I can picture it now: "Hi, we are a new company and we'd like to test launch a 7 million dollar rocket, will you foot the bill if it explodes?"
And I though my car insurance was expensive.

So by your rational there are all the companies using Office XP whish has been working fine and is paid for. They are looking to spend more money for additional features in Office 2007 but you are pretty sure that becasue it is pushed back a few months they are going to like, migrate to OO.o?
I think now I understand why you predicted 2001-2005 was going to be the "Year Of The Linux Desktop". You are all facking idiots.
Joking, but one good thing all those parked domains on IIS are useful for is improving their "market share" on Netcraft's site survey. I would bet that nearly half (or more) of all registered domains are just "parked", I am unsure how many of those are on godaddy.com though.
Even if you make $25G/year it probably costs your company $50G/year for things like the building you are in, electricity, property and health insurance, social security matching, training, and managing you etc.
They spend $50G to pay you $25G, and after taxes you get more like $17G of which you still must pay car/home owners insurance and sales tax. When it is all said and done you are left with maybe $12G/year of spendable income for car/house/food/clothing etc.
Instead of trying to design a system to filter porn images based on the image, create a.xxx TLD, or trying to keep a (impossible to keep updated) list of all porn sites that need to be filtered, why don't they ask that adult content be listed in the robots.txt file: eg. "Dissalow:/" and "Adult:/" in the same file? The solution could really be just that simple.
that site is exactly what I was looking for. He created light on earth before creating the sun.
1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. Uh, the moon is not an independent light source, don't you think god would know that?
And he spent "7 days" creating the earth but creates trillions of stars as an afterthought? Isn't it also a bit odd that the sun was not created before earth? Referring to the sun as "a big light in the sky" rather than the very large object the earth revolves around sounds more like that arrogant mantra of the people of that time than the word of god. There was no mention of the core of the earth either, the entire description is just an oversimplification of the way humans at that time viewed the earth. It sounds to me like the person that wrote that section (Genesis 1) thought earth was the center of the universe, don't you think this is something GOD should know is not true?
Also, based on this description, the earth is at least 4 days older than every other star in the universe. We may not have absolute proof of the "Big Bang" but I am pretty sure it would be much less difficult to prove the earth did not exist before the rest of the universe.
Would I save them any time by ensuring it is visible? Can anyone from Netflix corp answer this?
Yes U did! I mailed it to a scrambled combination of your user name and UID.
I knew I was celebrating something, but I forgot what. Is today my birthday?
Above is ROT-13 (rotate 13 places) for the text Frist psot.

GoogleFight says it is "Blu-Ray" 22,100,000 to 1,680,000.

Buying stuff from EA games should be looked on in the same way as eating veil.

Don't spend it all in one place.
If people spent money to go from Win2K pro to Windows XP what makes you think the idea of them upgrading to Vista is such a long shot?
"Ipod Killer" has become a codeword for "Won't sell". Maybe they shouold call it an Xbox killer, those seem to be more successful :)
