today the problem is not the processing power but the lame interrupt architecture enforced by current BIOSes. so activity can cause popping like you get in lots of integrated sound and video cards.

newer chipsets can't solve it either.

That is the main thing I am hoping for when the new BIOSes finally hit. Screw DRM.

I think 1 stand is enough for 1 company. Someone else is going to have to make the sound stand. And yes, that means it aint gonna happen.

Its so obviously idiotic. Video cards are booming because they do NOT encumber software in this way. Each time they tried, they got furious backlash, and their products failed. Glide, and NVIDIA had some proprietary junk IIRC.

Creative is just dumb. And i have to lol that this is a video patent not an audio one...

You just have to ask what does google think it will gain with such a large opening price? They could have gone for a smaller price simply by floating more shares.

We dont expect MS to go out of business, but they could loose interest and sell the patent at any time.

in the US they never needed keys because each OEM used totally different communication systems and nobody could communicate with it let alone comprehend what it was saying. But since the somewhat standardization that is taking place on the comm protocols, more encryption and keys are being introduced.

Pressing the gas pedal increases the usage of gas, whether or not that increase results in an acceleration. The simply key is to optimize the result of pressing the gas pedal, and how agressively you try to maintain your speed.

Give your car more gas when it can use it, and less when it can not. This is the same thing the transmission is trying to accomplish.

i.e. going faster and slower if you are on hills will be more efficient than maintaining a consistent speed.
