  1. mod parent up on MPAA Targets TV Download Sites · · Score: 5, Insightful

Recording is fair use. Distributing is not fair use (even if you are not profiting from it). MPAA is well within their right to go after these sites that take part in distributing their stuff. Still, I would be more than willing to pay for a decent quality download straight from the horse's mouth instead of some shitty divx rip that some numbnuts fucked up. Sometimes the lag from broadcast to DVD is just too fucking long. It also sucks if you're in another country and have to wait a couple of months (or even years) until it is broadcast.

  15. I think we will see more of this. on Brazil: Free Software's Biggest and Best Friend · · Score: -1

I think we will see more countries moving away from Microsoft solely because they are based in the United States. Many countries were against our invasion of Iraq and what better way to hit us than to stop supporting the poster child of Corporate America? After all, in the long run switching to a Free operating system will not save all that much money. The cost of running a system is not the sum of the cost of the hardware and software. Although every cut helps, of course. I think these moves are entirely political. I think it's wrong for these countires to punish Corporate America for Bush's actions (although he obviously had a lot of support from Corporate America), but I don't think these other countries really have any other choice. How the fuck is France or Brazil (or anybody else) going to affect Bush's actions? Maybe hitting his friends in the pocket-book will accomplish something, but probably not. Damn I'm tired.

    YOU FUCKING FAIL IT!

Honestly, that was perhaps the absolute worst attempt at First Post I have ever been witness to. It is the 8th post, and it was a whole 2 minutes behind the actual 1st post. The English language lacks the ability to describe just how monumental your failure is, but I will try anyway. Your failure is so huge that it will kill more people than that tsunamai back in December. Your failure is so huge that crops around the world will be lost and millions will starve to death. Your failure is so huge that everybody lost a few minutes of their lives. Your failure is so huge that the U.S. DOD is diverting resources from Iraq to deal with it. Your failure is so huge that intelligent life in distant galaxies can detect it without the aid of a telescope. Your failure is so huge that it went back in time and caused the "Big Bang". In fact, your failure is so monumentally huge that people stopped paying attention to the Michael Jackson trial for an astonishing 3 minutes! Unfuckingbelievable!

Seriously, that guy is a fucking freak show. I can't understand why people are so fascinated with that shit. It must be a Jewish / Nigger conspiracy.

Just try doing it over USB 1.1. OMFG IT IS TEH SLOW!

In all seriousness, I wish there was an easy Windows Explorer interface to just drop a bunch of MP3s on my iPod. iTunes is incredibly bloated for me, as I don't use the store at all. I don't even use it to play or organize my music. The sole purpose I have iTunes installed is to transfer music to my iPod. For that sole purpose, the rest of that shit is just bloat. It must be a Jewish and/or Nigger conspiracy.

  23. Keep It Simple, Stupid. on Sony takes on iPod Shuffle · · Score: -1

I have an iPod Shuffle. The reason people like it is because it is simple. It has a simple interface and a simple yet elegant design. There is no screen, radio, remote control, voice recorder, or anything like that. All it does is play music, and it does that well. End of story.

Why the fuck would I want a voice recorder?
I want to listen to music, not record a lecture. Get a voice recorder if you want to record something.

Why the fuck would I want a screen?
Screens eat up battery life. It's my music, I know who the artists are and what the songs are called.

Why the fuck would I want a radio?
If I wanted to listen to the radio, I'd buy a fucking radio! Radio does transmit "music", however, so I can understand some companies packaging this.

Why the fuck would I want a remote control?
My headphones are less than 6-ft long; Apple's are about 3-ft long. How the fuck is 6-ft remote enough to provide a remote control?

Do one thing, and do it well. The iPod Shuffle is a win for consumers who like simple things. However, in the long run I fear digital convergence will get exponentially worse. I can't wait for my electric razor/phone/radio/mp3 player/voice recorder/portable TV/alarm clock. Now with remote control!
