ReplyTV. I have two units. Work flawlessly. Fortunately I have one older model with excellent software which detects and skips commercials quite well. Plus, it connects to my wireless network easily. I transfer shows to my pc and burn on DVD.
Are you sure the larvae ingested the plastic? Many insects just masticate the material and mix it with their saliva to create building materials or to get to the next layer.
Really, ask that question to yourself. So what? It's not like we have a time machine and have a redo. Its done. Its over. Move on with your life for chrissakes.
Since the obvious inuendo here is that it was rigged in favor of GW, what's curiously absent in this "article" is what the votes were during the non-election day votes. Without that, this data is meaningless other than to support the position that the machines were messed up. Errors could have happened in either direction.
They also don't describe or detail the possibility that the logs were changed subsequent to the election. What has been the chain of custody for these machines since the election? Could normal powering up and data harvesting procedures alter the data? That's not explored in the article as written. OK so the machines 15 months later have some curious data on them. It doesn't mean it was messed up during the recount.
I understand the backlash against squatters but making it illegal to squat? That sounds a bit hard to enforce IMO. What if I come up with an idea that has some ramifications in the energy industry. However it is a bit before its time. 5 years later a cold fusion techology is invented which requires my idea? So my idea is invalid? I know this is an extreme idea but I am using hyperbole for a reason. What standards could someone devise and enforce to invalidate patent squatters. I think that for the benefit of the entire system we have to accept this detestible practice. It also has benefits in that these patent houses that just buy up patents are also purchasing them from the original holder who couldn't enforce or come up with a use themselves. In that manner they help the system.
Same goes for 5th Element. Other than Terminator, what a lineup of CRAP. They must be desperate to try to break even on those steaming piles of dung. By only releasing those on Blu-ray at first, you are going to get sales of them over quality since that is all that is out there.
Hmmm, I just bought my first Blu-ray at Best Circuit. Lets wander over to the Blu-Ray dvd aisle to pick up my first movie. Desperadoes? Pass. House of Flying what? Pass. Hmmm, Terminator sold out. 5th Element? Well the chick was hot, and I guess I could freeze frame it. OK.
I am no expert but it seems quite clear that those that are protesting so profusely think differently. While most of us have grown up with "freedom of the press" no matter how inane, they have not. Most of the people that are rioting in the street have grown up in a society in which there was no freedom of the press, non-approved thought was discouraged and religion was forced down your throat in order to control the masses living in squalid conditions.
My point is that we find it quite hypocritical to object to the cartoons by acting in the same exact way the satirical cartoon was intending. They do not see any problem with it. This won't change over night or within a decade. It will require a generation or two of exposure to alternate thought, religion, points of view etc before this crap stops.
To respond to a previous poster, there are "peaceful" muslims out there that are calling for calm but they are being drowned out by those that want the violence to escalate.
The headline is typical anti-Bush propaganda at the Times. If you actually read the article as the parent did, Nasa is only requiring him (and all other scientists) to go through a review process if there is the possibility that their paper/speech would be perceived as official NASA opinion.
Now before the flames begin, Bush has made a lot of mistakes and I am by no means a Bush supporter. I just think that this kind of journalism continues to mislead the public on an import subject. The guy is mad, so what, it doesn't mean there is a government conspiracy to silence scientists.
Also interesting was that the article's author thought it necessary to include 15 pictures of booth babes. Wouldn't 2-3 have been sufficient to make the case. Seems like they are themselves using the titillation to generate a buzz for their article. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for booth babes, I'm just against hypocrisy.
They matter because they generate traffic and interest to an exhibitor's area. They don't mean anything regarding the actual quality of the game but its part of the marketing.
Does a fancy box for a game make the game better? No but it helps market the game better which equals more sales.
If you don't like it, ignore them. If you like them, ogle away they know what they are in for. But please don't say they don't do anything. That's simply not true.
Sarbox provides in Title III Section 304 that certain bonuses of the CEO and CFO during the previous 12 mo period as well as profits on sales of the entity's securities are forfeit. Additionally it widens the scope of penalties already in place from the Securities Acts of 1933 and 1934 (section 305).
However, the financial statements in question are from 1998 through 2000 which PREDATES Sarbox reach. So they get to keep any bonuses or stock profits. That doesn't mean civil suits can't go after them and bleed them to death in court, however.
Its sad that the OS community is heralding the the switch by a branch of the French Government. France has consistently legislated against foreign competition either through tariffs or labor laws. I don't want to start an off-topic flame war here so I won't list a bunch of examples but France is extremely protectionist and is not a friend of open competition which OpenSource cries for.
Is it a blow against Microsoft? Yes. Is the French government the ideal ally of OS? No, but I guess my enemy's enemy is my friend applies here.
TFA states that Argon gas was pumped into the chamber. So, instead of chemical propellents, does this propulsion system need a constant supply of Argon? I can't imagine there being much Argon out in space to be scooped up in any quantities to replenish that which is used to create the plasma. Anyone with more knowledge care to comment?
Not only how long can they wait but how can it be done technically? It seems a noble aim but unrealistic at this point and may in effect be an excuse for them being quite behind their schedule or even hiding vaporware.
Bioware's forums are a great example of success. As described in the article, they listen to all of the complaints and stories of exploits, bugs, wishes, etc. As they were developing expansion packs, the developers would frequently drop in the forums to squash rumors that weren't true, help tease the fans about new features and explain what could and could not be done with the engine. It helped to keep the masses from unrealistic expectations and keeps flames to a minimum.
They also support the modding community quite well which is especially important for a D&D based RPG.
Game Developers' willingness to suck at the teat of Hollywood for easy money, marketing and ideas will weigh the industry down until they can successfully wean themselves from it. Hollywood has already fully embraced mediocrity as a method of risk reduction. Who needs to take a chance with a novel script when we can remake King Kong, War of the Worlds, or make Rocky XX. Game Development NEEDS to take risks. Otherwise all the consoles will die on the vine.
I was one of those that never understood the underlying reactions. I was forced into memorization (poorly at that) and lo and behold, one C and one D later, I was an economics major.
Where exactly is the sloppiness? You cite no flaws. From all accounts, the GUI is extremely well done and they fixed the controllers.
No blu-ray? That's a bit picky. Who knows when that debate will end. If they put one in would you have critisized them for picking the wrong one or for choosing one over the other for nefarious purposes?
The future version confusion is pure conjecture on your part.
The lack of headliner games is debatable but is your strongest and most valid critisism IMO.
So you suggest they should wait and see what the PS3 and revolution are doing before progressing. Microsoft is an aggressive company and will not be passive with this. They are going to try to capture market share that evaporate when the others come out. While it has risks you cannot logically find fault with this based on all of your other comments.
Instead, the black monster resides outside, like the ghost of what was mocking the feminine new system's lack of balls---------What does this mean? I suppose I could just be too stupid to get the point of the author but I actually think that this sentence is the result of the author trying too hard to be witty. Seriously, how does an external power supply conjure up images of male or female or of even a ghost.
Most games run on Microsoft platforms. Sorry, it may not be fair, but it is the way of the world right now. Until Mac OS and Linux become ligitimate GAMING platforms, then the World Cyber Games will remain a Windows PC based event.
Man, are your panties in a bunch judging by the above posts. Having a PC translator on the ground has very little to do with alleged torture. You were the first to bring up the torture argument which imo is off topic.
Its easy for you to proclaim yourself the enlightened liberal and accuse anyone who disagrees with you as a drone and a nazi and someone who is brainwashed by the "american" media: its an ad hominem attack.
You yourself have ZERO personal knowledge of torture either by Americans on the ground in Iraq or anywhere else in the world. Even sadder, you attempt to verify said alleged torture through the interview of ONE individual. Seems that one individual source may be a bit suspect to me. I would wait for corroboration but then lets not let facts get in the way of your opinion.
If you RTA, it is only theory, and hasn't been proven. So, theories are a dime a dozen. I'll wait and see if someone can actually prove it THEN we can find an application. Seems a bit far off don't ya think?
While I think KOTOR was an awesome game and it may have some attraction for a MMORPG, I don't think it would be as popular as you think.
People like Galaxies because it occurs in the time of the movies. The ships and politics are those that many are familiar with. This attracts movie fans while I think that a KOTOR MMORPG would have a harder time getting the casual Star Wars fan to pony up the bucks.
The XBox racing games are much better than the other consoles. The others could catch up if they stopped focusing on fantasy-type racing. Yes there are normal racing games for the Playstation but the Xbox racing games blow them away IMO.
Call of Duty 2 is a good cornerstone FPS for the 360. It is a proven franchise game that is focused on solid MP gameplay.
I understand how that would work b/t two quantum computers but what happens when Joe Public is trying to pay their visa bill from home? Since quantum computers won't be available to the public for a long time isn't the network only as strong as its weakest link (i.e. your silicon based home PC)? Wouldn't part of the encryption have to take place on the silicon based PC?
