Frankly, there aren't many places that are immune to natural disasters..... Life on this planet just isn't safe.
Some places, however, carry considerably more risk than the rest. A city near the sea that is below sea level should be considered one of the most dangerous areas of them all. We can't run from all disaster, but we can try to stay away from the worst.
To be able to see your site key and phrase, a phisher would first have to know your login name and password to login so that the phishers computer would be authorized to view the site key and phrase. Otherwise, the phisher would need to know your user name to try to login to get asked one of the three questions.
One of my questions is not my mothers maiden name. There are about 10 different questions and you have to choose and answer three of them during setup. So, the phisher would also have to know one of the correct three questions to ask.
Has anyone actually used this before complaining that it won't work?
I have a Bank of America account and I have already signed up and I'm using site key. I chose a picture and entered a phrase... along with the three questions. Now, when I login, I have to see the image I chose and the phrase I chose before I enter my password.
A phisher would have to come up with my particular image AND phrase on their fake web site to entice me to enter my password. This is highly unlikely.
This is simply a way for me to verify that I am actually at the BofA site before I enter my password. It is very simple and it seems workable to me.
Sure, the statement that, "you can't even USE the word 'Apple' or 'Microsoft' without getting hate mail from somebody or other," might be true, but to maintain perspective, the hate mail comes from a miniscule percentage of the overall users.
This past weekend, i edited a bunch of video in iMovie on my mothers G3 600mhz ibook. I was really surprised at how well it did. Before I started, I was convinced that I would have to take it home and edit it on my own computer.
The ibook wasn't even slow. Not only did I not need a more powerful computer, I didn't even find myself wanting one at the time. I wasn't just limping through it.
I personally think the Talking Heads had far more than two good songs. Then, after the demise of the Talking Heads, David Byrne went on to produce many albums of his own, all of which I consider to be very good albums. David Byrne does not need to, "desperately [search] for relevance."
Your statement seems to indicate that your knowledge of David Byrne body of work is terribly limited and shallow. Perhaps it is you that is, "desperately searching for relevance," in this discussion?

By the time it actually is available to the consumer, it will have been announced for four to five years. Of course, there is another OS that has actually had this feature for over a year now.
I don't think they are requireing everyone to use Linux, they "would require all state-owned companies and government ministries to use open source by 2005." Also, computers made in Vietnam would have to have OSS software installed. Does this mean ONLY OSS?
Many US and state government agencies, schools etc require ONLY Windows for their networks? How is that any different?

1200 (as of about 5pm EDT) comments about a mouse. WTF?

A dietician once told me that the allergy is to the shrimp. Not iodine.
I'm deadly allergic to shrimp.
Most Americans will never even know about this expansion of power and most of those that do hear of it will simply not care.
Don't hype the war.

I think their name on the front isn't very attractive. Would be nice to find a way to get rid of it.
If I bought the item, why do they need to continue to advertise to me?
It seems that basing your business model on telling iPod users that they are stupid for using an iPod isn't very smart.
Just like the way BE OS stole a big chunk of the Windows market.
If they have done nothing wrong, what do they have to worry about?

If you looked at the tech specs, should have seen this:
256MB of PC2700 (333MHz) DDR SRAM, supports up to 1GB
It's a Purple Country not red or blue.
I just updated my G4 733 (nvidia and ati cards, 1.12gb ram, dual hard drives, dual monitors) and have no problems so far.
Look up the lyrics here.
Both are correct.
If you know anything about The Grateful Dead, you would know that it should be played through the roses.
"I dunno, maybe it was the roses..."
Assuming you are not just out of high school... how similar is what you do with computers now to what you did in school?
For me, any skills I learned beyond typing and using a mouse were completely useless in the real world. The computing world changes very quickly.
COMP101 is not MS101 nor should it be.
There are several programs that can set cron jobs without the terminal... just have to search for them. VersionTracker Cron Search

If you are so busy that you can not wait for two minutes for your computer to boot, how do you have time to read slashdot?
If that two minutes is actually so critical to your day, just leave the computer running.
