    We just recently voted in a new law that allows middle management at social security insurances like welfare, medical and invalid pension to have people receiving money put under surveillance by a private investigater. No judge necessary.

    And this all for small and unrealistic hope that the services will become a few bucks cheaper.

    No, no, no... we're not about privacy... we just do it because that's how it's always been done. Nothing more to it.

    We could produce enough power by plopping down a few nukes. Modern designs that can reuse some of the "spent" fuel we already have lying about.

    That would give us the time to perfect all those technologies that are not there yet and incrementally supplant the nukes as time goes by.

    What we are doing now is hoping for the lottery jackpot to happen while not wanting to sell auntie Mabel's villa on the hill because it has sentimental value.

    But that is a good thing, isn't it? Either those types of jobs are needed so it behooves employers to pay accordingly or they are not and it makes little sense to waste a human mind to it.

    A lot of that is very true.

    I mean when you sell SLAs you know you will only keep if nothing bad happens... Sure, it's a business decision but I find that dishonest already. It's so rare to receive good and honest service. Most of the time you get fleeced in some manner.

    Look, if it works for you then great. It doesn't for me. And it doesn't for a lot of other people as well. For some it doesn't work, because they are too stupid and for others it doesn't work because IT is too stupid.

    Fact is there is no good OS on the market. They just all suck for different reasons.

    Few people have a TV that is really good for gaming in the first place and you can use Xbox controllers on a PC.

    What is this good for?

    As for streaming content, how about allowing a Plex and Kodi app to run directly on the xbox?

    Perhaps I'm missing something but this seems to solving an issue I have trouble imagining many people to actually have.

    Well, invoking Godwin's law is only legitimate if the mentioning of Nazi Germany isn't connected to the topic.

    And it IS quite possible that without US intervention, the Soviets would have caved to the Nazi onslaught. After all, Stalin DID send unarmed men to defend Stalingrad, did he not?

    So yeah, America did have its uses. YOU need to accept that. You're probably right, tthough, that this has little influence on our current debate.
