I have surewest.net. They run fibre optic to your home and have service in a few select areas. The connection is 10Mb/s. It can sometimes burst to 15Mb/s. However, the connection is limited to monthly throughput of 40Gb. Basically, I can use my line that costs $49.95 per month at 56Kbps speed. At 56Kbps speed running 24/7 for one month, I would download approximately 38Gb. They charge $3.50 per Gb over the limit. Sucks, until I can get DSL other than SBC and cable other than Comcast.
in CA, legislation has been passed where it is four patients to one RN for telemetry. 2 patients to RN for ICU. I think that some Trauma depts have a one-to-one ratio. The ED|ER have a ratio as well. I don't recall it. I am trying to get into nursing, now. I certainly hope that they don't go entirely primary because some nurses I have had and my mom has had cannot draw blood to save a life.
how you fit 600 GB of storage in your shuttle xpc along with the dvd+-r drive? i thought that it came with two 3.5 and one 5.25 slot. the one that i have seen up close came with a memory card reader in one of the 3.5 slots. i guess you can take that out. i just checked and there are 300GB maxtor ide drives available now.
This would finally be a good reason to make a beneficial worm. Think of all the problems that would arise from making everything Debian. The anarchy that ensues would somehow create jobs outside of INDIA and I could get off of unemployment doing IT work.
I have used these on boats for electrical power. They last a good month for light usage. I have lugged these fsckin' heavy batteries a mile into the woods for a summer cabin on an ATV. ATVs are your friends.
You could also get the sealed gel optima batteries to run stuff in the house because they don't leak any toxic gases. You can run your UPS on either of them. Just keep the deep cycle marine batteries outside.
One bypasses the chintzy batteries that came with the UPS and use the big batteries to power stuff. A friend used this solution for making sure his laptop computer, HAM setup for packet radio/internet, and emergency lights were working at all times.
Another option, I have not seen mentioned is using your car to charge your laptop batteries while you drive via one of those 12vDC --> 110AC power inverters for your car.
How are you going to get an internet connection out there?
Oh yeah, make sure you buy a handgun and a shotgun for protection and fun.
thanks for pointing out quickpar. i am goint to try and integrate this into my backups. thus far all i have used for data integrity were md5/sha1 hashes to make sure the files were identical. i hadn't implemented anything to recover them from optical media.
I was interested in the new approach of your
business model where your company is moving in the direction of courting Fortune 500 companies with your enterprise server configurations and support.
Redhat is simultaneously halting development on the consumer level product that has the most name recognition of any Linux distribution. You are giving up the free exposure that got you to where you are now. Yes, we all understand that you are replacing this with Fedora.
What the fuck are you thinking?
wait until you start working there and you don't have health benefits, a living wage, and have your overtime forced upon you by gestapo-like uber managers. yeah, i worked there for all of two days.
use a calling card. the call is routed and resolves to a local telco phone number near the number. it may cost you about 0.025 per minute, but it is so worth it in my opinion. i already tried it with a long distance ani number and to my own 1-800 number. disreputable boiler call centers use them, calling cards, to hide their location/number. why can't you?
it is just really funny to see a multinational company watching out for the interests of one the largest potential new markets by stating that they won't be able to compete ten to twenty years from now. FUD.

F U D. Is your phone number listed? Are you registered to vote? Do you have credit cards? Guess what I can find out where you live as well. I could pay the $19.95 and get your 5 last known addresses and social security number. Protect yourself the best you can as having a history of being alive is hard to shake.
it seems almost perfect for a slashdot crowd:
"watch what you want, when you want, where you want?... VideoNOW, the future of entertainment right in your hand."
Anyone want a small pr0n viewing device? I guess pr0n is pr0n, whether it be in B&W or in color.
so now you have two macintosh g4 computers. that would entail hiring another employee at whatever rate ($73K? I know macintosh os 9 and osx really well) to administer this macintosh contingent. what about the software for these macs?
just chiming in with some news on ati firegl x1 card and how it just didn't work for me under linux or win32. the drivers are just not up to production level. i would call their tech support, which in my opinion is very good, and implement all their suggestions and the machines would just randomly reboot in both 2d and 3d applications. The same workstations had 30 day uptimes under win2k with sp3. Softwares used were 3dsmax5, photoshop 7, and lightwave 7. we ended sending the cards back for a refund. we lost a week of two machines being down and all my and another techs time trouble shooting and recreating problems.
getting punched or kicked in the groin is funny because it works on so many levels. heck, Homer thinks it is funny. i don't really know why pain has become funny to so many people. people watch those amerika'sfunniest home videos, eXtreme crashes, or NASCAR to be entertained by the hoped for electrocution, impalement, or explosion. sometimes the entertainment becomes a reflection of how fouled and stilted the society is today.
Mods: yes, please mod this down to flame bait or troll.
"I was itching to go check out some girl-girl role-playing action. I had a feeling I knew where I'd find it."
I really do think that would have been a much more interesting subject that has a greater appeal to/. readership. (=
+++ when i want to find some girl on girl action i go online.
shoplifting does hurt the bottom line. however, the biggest losses come from employee theft. i have caught this practice a bunch in retail environments from clothing, books, music, and consumer electronics. the main one is just taking stuff and dumping it out with trash or in backpacks/clothing. the other most common is not ringing up cash sales or voiding them. combine shoplifting, employee theft, and ceo salaries, you'll arrive at what affects a companies' fiscals.
It is not entirely cost prohibitive to purchase an arcade upright or cocktail table. i bought crazy climber, discs of tron (upright), and ms. pacman. Total cost about $1900.00 (incl. shipping + truck rental with a liftgate, storage, labor since my friends are skinny geeks, pizza, beer, rope/straps, and a handtruck.) if you have the space, i.e. living in your parents basement, garage, or for the lucky few, their old room. it is not such a bad idea. you could get rid of your bed and practice for the world record on your game of choice. you could also build your own arcade emulation upright, but that is illegal.
i am still looking for nice and working upright or cocktail tables of journey, joust, gyruss, donkey kong, spyhunter, and tron.

so where is the bittorrent link?
what about drm? you know they can't let you have the paper that cost them .03 USD to do what you will with it.

usually i just add a 1/2 capful of bleach to the soapy water and sponge to clean anything like utensils, cutting boards (wood or plastic) and dishes.
