If you want to do this try having a glass of OJ (high pulp or not) with a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon on it - lotsa fiber and good taste even without the sugar with the cinnamon.
Also - not to long ago it was common for restaurants to serve juice in a small 4 ounce glass. Even Mcdonalds had it in a pre ackaged 6 ounce container. It's a recent thing to have 8 or even more commonly 16 ounce servings, which is waaay to much.
Fruit juices CAN be good for you, just not in such quantities.
also, one other suggestion -- orange water. juice yourself one half an orange into a big glass of water. That right there is better than any softdrink and is fairly sweet if you mostly drink water. Stop drinking anything but water or unsweetened tea or coffee for three weeks- even skim milk will taste downright sweet afterwards.
Be careful what you wish for on this one though.
My lovely geek wife of 12 years didn't play videogames. We led a happy existance (pocketbook wise) by me buying all the latest and greatest, and her getting the hand me down parts making a faster machine for her every once in a while.
Then I got her started on MMO's....
Now everytime *I* get an upgrade, *She* gets the upgrade too.
Ouch.
But it is a blast playing online with her. The one thing we've discovered is she like pretty much the same all the time. She's a dedicated raider on wow. Me, it took me 3 years of off and on play to get my day 1 priest to get to lvl 60. I reup for a month or two every 4-5 months then get bored again and go play something different... Thank goodness there's not many games I have to buy two of right away!
Milwaukee, WI built a airport station. Flights leaving there (and thus reducing Ohare's congestion) have gone up because of it. I think what really needs to be in the mix with this plan is airport stations all around. Think of the smaller cities in between these cities -- Lafayette IN., Racine WI., Bloomington-Normal IL., etc.
Hop on the train from Madison, WI and head to ohare for an international flight... or Minneapolis or Milwaukee... Or heck, sometime you see goofy prices IN Madion, or Indy, or Louisville...
Ok, so joe nobody comes up with a smart idea, and can only put a "patent hold" on it.
Joe Nobody isn't a manufacturer, so he has to start shopping his invention around... and now company D who happened to hear about the presentation gave to Company C puts a "patent hold" on, along with companies g-Zz.
Someone actually goes through the 2 years to engineer the product completely first, but within months someone else releases their version protected by the "patent hold".
Now the original inventor has to fight in the courts saying "hey, they never actually came up with their own idea, they heard about it when I was trying to demonstrate it to Company A over here... And I just know some employee told this person blah blah blah....
What sort of nightmare is that?
No, the real solution is to look at what can be patented again. I think it's the whole obviousness test. If the method they are pattening is just a standard practice moved to a new medium without any specific new process, don't patent it. If it's an obvious extension onto an existing issue, like a new slightly changed formulation of an existing drug (like changing the dosage, for example) don't allow a patent. The patent system worked for nearly 200 years. It's only in the past 20 years that things really gone south. It's not perfect, but it's better than most anything else.
ummm... for what? For tuning over their property to Gen Con to be auctioned off (with a big chunk going to charity)
This part of the lawsuit is pretty cut and dried. LucasFilms gives Gen Con LLC property, property is auctioned for $$, $$'s are not distributed as agreed before auction.
I still think that it's a intended smart marketing move. Get people interested in the iPhone, sells millions of copies, then when the hype starts to fade, during the holiday season, release a new EDGE capable iPhone, and start lowering the price of the current models a bit to capture more market.
Betting that they can generate alot of hype just before x-mas this year on new flash memory sizes isn't a good bet... ooohhh 16 gigs of flash -- look at this model of iPod, it has 80 gigs... The size increase, while significant, wouldn't be enough to hype. However, adding EDGE would be. Plus, the flash memory market being as colatile as it has been lately, they can't guarantee their profits/price per gig when they started planning for this for more than 12 months out reliably. This gives them an major hype-able new feature if the larger flash sizes are still to expensive to make an apple sized profit.
At least Charter is actually fighting over escalating costs.
Charter has looooaaads of problems, and I'm not defending them for any of their other issues, but on this one, they are the good guys. The local channels are trying to instill fees that make you have to pay extra to have their HD content over cable - it's as simple as that. Sure, the cable company is making money off of you, but they are not making money off the local channels that they can't sell ads on, and that they are required by regulation to have a basic only tier (in many communities). They don't make money on these, not like they do on their other channels.
What's happening is that changes in regulations have made it possible for TV stations to demand payment to rebroadcast the signals that are broadcast for free. These fees are another entry to charging us more. Once the fees start, and broadcast TV has another revenue stream based on those fees, you can bank on the fact that every year or two when the contracts renew, they will go up. This is why your cable bill goes up every year - "must carry" stations, like ESPN & CNN, go to the cable companies and say "Next year, we want to charge you 1.25 more per subscriber, plus you now have to carry ESPN Bullfighters network, or we will charge you 4.50 more per subscriber"
The cable company either has to do what they ask, or risk having tons of subscribers drop and go to another system, like satelite.
Now, some people might say "why don't we just go ala carte?" well, in that case, we'd have to pay $10 for ESPN, plus and extra $4 for the ESPN package, plus another $8 for CNN/Headline, plus $4 for Sci-Fi, plus $9 for Nickelodean for the kids - pretty soon your at the normal extended cable price, with half the channels. The cable networks have alot of leverage here.
I think this is what they've got planned.
If you don't know what Tabula Rasa is, go here: http://www.playtr.com/index.html
Sort of FPS, sort of MMORPG... The battlegrounds inside WOW have proved hugely popular, and with the new release have hinted at some possibilities of actually having seige weapons and tanks and such in future expansion battlegrounds. If they can beta test that system in stages now, then they can pop off an announcement next year about a Starcraft MMO for xmas 2008, soon to be delayed to early 2009 (This is blizzard we are talking about)
What exacty did he do to anyone but the goverment anyhow? He is just trying to skip out on paying as much tax. Fine him and move on. He's not cooking the books here.
At least there you'd the off chance thatin their quest to knitt faster and faster, they'd accidently impale themselves or a cameraman who got to close.
For all the faults of society at that time, the one thing they did have a handle on was optimism and a drive to innovate. Basic research was funded by both companies and the goverment, Policies of the Eisenhower Administration pushed scientific and political goals forward.
How many years will it be till we have a president & congress that is not a puppet of special interest money?
Nothing that is offically anounced, but it's been done already, with just some tweaking to make it better.
First up, A solar powered UAV that was tested 3 years ago to reach near 100k. Now, I'll grant that it wasn't a production model, but who's to say with a bit of black technology and a much larger budget this hasn't been duplicated?
There's also multiple models of blimp based technology, such as this or this. Now, granted, the blimps would be a bit harder to hide from, but then again, if it's there 24/7 for months, you can't exactly time when you move targets, like you can with sats.
Now, I am talking out of my ass here, but my guess is that IF they had this technology working, and in production, then that would make a strong case to stop an expensive manned vehicle that may have been designed to do essentially the same thing. Especially if one of those said drones were missle delivered, as the conncept plans from years ago indicated.
I'll bet if this did somehow cross the president's desk and he had to make a choice between spending dollars in Iraq and this, the thought that private enterprise is doing the same probably did cross his mind. Of course, the next thought would be, who can we buy this tech from that will donate heavily to the next republican candidate, for an exclusive overpriced nobid contract.;)
I'll bet that if they have retired this, they've determined that the can do the same with unmanned drones, or a smaller unmanned satelite system that's launched as one piece package.
My money is on the drones, however. Some of the newer models can orbit at close to 100k feet for long periods of time, and are so small hard to spot that they might as well be satellites. Also, if they've been successful enough with hiding the sats that are launched, as in last month's Wired article (discussed here on slashdot) then maybe they don't need as much quick launch capability.
Therehas been many articles and studies lately for/against having cell phones on planes. The real drawback I can see is that they require special phones to be able to do this, and how is a flight attendant going to be able to tell if you have the proper phone/service or not?
My wife, on the other hand, just contributes to the issues that make it worse. She logs on as soon as she gets home from work, and logs my char on too in case I want to play.
Sometimes I want to, sometimes I don't. It helps that we have multiple machines at home. My wife likes the game way more than I do, and plays my high level priest on occasion. But anytime I've gotten kicked off and couldn't log in fast enough to avoid the queue, I just shut down and walk away. One of these days my wife is going to become too frustrated and quit too, and we will cancel our accounts. I suspect alot of people will, and until the time it starts affecting the subscriber base, nothing serious will be done about it.
We don't know if this will be a product that every exec is going to want installed for their workforce, but we can safely assume that yes, you are going to work more hours.

That's assuming your new tool that's vitally important actually has a man page. Very little is documented as well as it was 10 years ago.

It's also a well-hated company by the players of their other games.
Pittsburgh is a well-hated team by fans of Seattle.
The Red Sox are a well-hated team by fans of the Yankees.
The Yankees are a well-hated team by most other fans in the country.
If they liked the game, they probably wouldn't be a subscriber of another game. Duh!
