Does anybody know about HD support, I know it has it but curious if it's limited to only 720p like the AppleTV or if it will display 1080i/p.

And is there anything to stop me from installing XBMC on there. (I doubt there is but I'm not a big fan of boxee)

I was looking for a high definition media player and ended up purchasing a Popcornhour Model C200 networked media player after ruling out Apple TV. http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/

The C200 accommodates 1 or 2 internal hard drives and has a 3.5" bay for a Blue Ray or DVD player as well. 1080P playback is not a problem. There are very few file formats that won't work with this player.

Here are the C200 technical specifications: http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/index.php?pluginoption=productspec&item_id=12

Back in the late 60's I worked on a program at General Electric, Utica, NY called LAMPS. The technology consisted of very bright strobe lights flashing in the 8 Hz - 10 Hz region. These lights were flown in aircraft and used in the Vietnam war to disorient the enemy. The strobe frequency is unique in that it disrupts brain wave activity that caused the enemy target to loose control of bodily functions (not just vomiting).

We did our testing at night and the lights could be seen from a nearby highway. This resulted in multiple auto accidents.

I personally have witnessed the exponential growth in technology over the last 50 years. In 1950 the state of the art in consumer electronics was a 5 tube radio and a 21 tube television. Today, we have 5 million transistors on a single computer chip. If you go back 100 years to the late 1800s, advances in technology were more or less linear and progressed very slowly. This all changed after the alleged Roswell incident.

I actually enjoy those old re-runs and some of the original programming like "unreliable sources" on RTN (Retro Network). RTN, CW, and NBC programming is not available in my area. I found an old Primestar dish on the curb, hooked it up and aimed it at G18-Ku to see if I could receive anything. I ended up with 23 watchable channels after I filtered out the Spanish, AC3 audio, and encrypted channels. It's a nice supplement to OTA. I'll be adding C Band to my system after I update the analog LNB with one that's digital compatible.

I grew up with free TV and can't see paying the cable company $80 a month for the 10 cable channels (out of 200) that I actually watch.
