The only possible explanation is that a computer virus has jumped more than the species barrier to infect humans! No doubt related of the computer virus used to infect the Borg in Star Trek: Voyager! That's it! It's spread by writers! Kill them, kill them all before it's too late!
Yeah but $200B 20 years ago is worth in the trillions in todays dollars! They better get on that counterfeiting before the losses are greater than the economy can possibly produce!
If the Chinese want stability then they must respect minority rights, languages and cultures and respect all human rights in general. If they did that they would have a stable happy population. There is no way they will ever do that so stability is not what they want. Obedience is what they want. I don't think they'll get that either.
and the war will continue until US law enforcement gets tired of butting it's head against a brick wall. Not likely since they know rocks eventually break bricks.
The entertainment industry keeps pouring money into anti-piracy and they keep getting further behind. The millions of dollars the industry spends on these campaigns bring in absolutely zero in increased revenue. If the industry took the position that file traders don't matter and that people who buy movies and music are the ones that do matter, they could then spend this money reaching out to people who will buy and bring in increased profits. Continuing to invest in the people who aren't interested in buying is only going to increase costs and drive paying customers away.
I don't understand why when one person invents the wheel, someone else can 'invent' rolling it. Isn't rolling the wheel inherent to the invention of the wheel?
How the movie industry can have it's best year ever while at the same time claiming to being bled dry by file downloaders is a mystery to me. In fact the movie industry hasn't lost a thing to downloaders because downloaders aren't their customers, never have been and never will be. Yes file downloaders will consume content without paying but the industry needs to just accept that and focus on the people who are their customers. I paint watercolors and I want as many people as possible to see my work for free so I can find those few people who actually want to buy, it's them I'm focused on. When I open a show of my work I provide food and wine to everyone who attends whether they buy my work or not. The entertainment industry should adopt the same attitude and stop making their products less attractive to the people who do want to buy them.
A free press protects the people from their government. Censorship protects the government from the free press. If the government of China really does have the best interests of it's people at heart then it would not have to use censorship to prevent it's failures from being brought to the attention of it's people. People don't need their government to protect them from porn or hate propaganda, people are amazingly good at doing this themselves. The government of China might as well say the moon is made of cheese, it would be just as true as claiming they need to protect their people from imaginary harm.
When the Supreme Court invalidates software patents all these companies can go back to Microsoft and demand their money back. That should be fun to watch!
Maybe someone is confusing a trademark or copyright with a patent.

There is now no reason for anyone to install Solaris anywhere. Bye bye Solaris, Don't call us, we'll call you!
It doesn't necessarily mean they get more sex.
And you can modify your old inkjet printer to spray butter!

That should read "... ASCAP's position and with their heads firmly planted up their butts, they're sticking to it."
Obviously that community needs someone to protect them from the police. Crack whores?
You write well in English, try typing louder to see if your people understand you!

Bank robbers usually escape in cars so maybe we should ban automobiles to cut down on the number of bank robberies! Its' the same logic.
They should publish it as a DVD and within hours they'll be able to download the unencrypted file from a torrent! :o)
We should monitor politicians with big wireless suppositories!
Maybe it's Amazon's new long distance service, talk all you want, it's someone else's dime!
This is no different.
