    Traditional news organizations are being made obsolete by evolving web based news reporting where everyone is a reporter. That's the real problem. If traditional news organizations cannot evolve with the web then they will die. Sad for them but good for everyone else.

    I bought an ipod touch today only to find out that without iTunes you can't access it at all. I'm running Linux and iTunes doesn't work with Wine. Ipod touch goes back in the morning. The ipod touch and the iphone have such hideous vendor lock in Microsoft must get a hard on just thinking about it. I hate Microsoft and now Apple is starting to give me a rash. Openness where are you?

Corporations would love to extend copyright onto everything so they can make more money, but that is not the purpose of copyright and this idea will be tossed out on summary judgment.

    Providing no one ever has a new idea, the judge just might be right. In the real world however, if there is a need for an independent news service, it will pop up all on it's own. That is the nature of the internet, someone is always trying something new and when a need arises or an opportunity develops, there are 8 billion people in the world that can offer a solution. One of them is bound to have a good idea!

    The latest Ubuntu release 9.04 was able to correctly detect and configure both my monitors, a 16:9 22" lcd monitor and a 16:9 lcd tv at different resolutions without any problems. I have been using dual monitors and tv out with Linux for years without significant problems. It used to require modifying xorg.conf but now it's pretty much automatic. Linux has come a long way in the last two years, the gnome desktop is now a complete environment as is the kde desktop. Administration is simple and easy to understand. Things are well documented and it's easy to get help if you need it. I no longer worry about introducing newbies to Linux because with a quick introduction they quickly acclimatise to the new environment and become productive in a very short time. Maybe it's time you took another look.

    $319 United States dollars for the opportunity to have my computer assimilated by a botnet? I think I'll stick with Ubuntu for free. I've also just realized that Windows Vista is much more difficult to administer than Linux has become so if you want simple and easy to manage, it's now Linux not Windows.
