I've done some googling and have come across conflicting answers. One site lists only Titan as having an Dense atmosphere. Another lists Io, Europa and Triton with Tenuous(require regeneration) atmospheres as well. This new moon would seem to fall in that category.
And the planets?
Venus, Earth, Mars and maybe Pluto?
Interesting.. so their business model is basically exactly the opposite of Microsoft with their X-Box.
Entirely different markets. Console game makers have done this since the 80's. They get $50+ for games.
For comparison, compare the IPod to all of the other portable music players that use either memory or hard drive. Before the IPod, they all relied Exclusivily on the hardware sales. Apple has the hardware Plus the song sales(however small their margin may be on those)
First thing I do when I use any new(or one I haven't used in a while) application(Especially Microsoft) is check the keyboard shortcuts help menu item. It drives me nuts to watch other people move back and forth and back and forth between keyboard and mouse. Or type a bunch of stuff and then grab the mouse and click File->Save when you could just click CTRL-S. What a waste of movement and time.
About the only places you really need a mouse are games and the web.
If it's that easy to paint on and is that efficient, why are we talking about geek clothes and not about every home having their southerly facing side painted with this stuff?
I am currently posting this on my shop PC(As well as about 1/3 of my Slashdot posts).
It's a Celeron 300 running stripped down Windows XP. I have a decent ATI 7500 AIW so I also have TV out here. I've upgraded the RAM to 512MB. I did lose a hard drive a couple of years ago(no problem as I back up my data to my server in my home office), but other than that the thing has been on for 5 years straight. I leave the case open(like most of my PC's, should probably close them but I'm constantly moving parts etc.) I blow out the cobwebs, dust and wood chips every couple months or so.
Works great, although lately I've been thing about upgraded to 1 Ghz or so.
I've got 2 Hitachi Superscan Elite 21" Monitors that I purchased 7 & 8 years ago on my primary systems. My 2nd monitor is hooked up to a 4 way kvm switch that is primarily switched to my 2nd oldest computer which is my email and ATI TV Tuner in the corner machine. I can also switch to my Win2K development server or my Redhat 9 server or a dual desktop for my primary system. They are very large, but I have room. They still look and perform awesomely.
I have been tempted many times by the sleak and sexy LCD's, but why would I want to spend $1500+ on two replacement monitors that have a limited viewing angle, limited resolutions selections, limited game performance?
I've yet to see, however, a LCD that makes me want to replace my beasts.
That's exactly what I thought of when I read this.
Those pests are responsible for more deaths than any single other cause world wide causing numerous diseases including malaria which infects 5% of the worlds population last year
This is larger than AIDS, imagine unleashing these bots in mosquite infested areas and have them gobble them up and fuel themselves.
This kind of reminds me of a toy I've seen at Spencers and other novelty stores.
It's a bunch of pins going through a board that you can press your hand or face or whatever against and make an impression.(I did some googling for this, but the terms I could think of were too general)
If you could put a servo on each of those pins, it seems like you could pretty easily achieve the same result.
For $499 you get:
VIA C3 processor 1.0 GHz
14.1" LCD panel
Lindows/Linspire version 4.5
128 MB memory
30 GB hard drive
CD-ROM drive
For $549 you get:
1.1 GHz Mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor
14.1" XGA TFT LCD screen
40 GB hard drive
128 MB RAM
DVD-ROM drive
Integrated 802.11b wireless networking
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Notice the cheapo monitor doesn't say TFT. Besides that for the extra $50 you get Windows Xp Home(Ebay?), Althon &.1 GHz, DVD vs CD, 10GB Xtra HD, Wireless.
I use XP for my desktop for many reasons so am unaware of things that may affect KDE/Gnome systems.
I do have a RH Ent. VPS server, a RH 9 fileserver wiht Samba at home and use HPUX at work, just really don't pay that much attention to the Linux desktop world too much besides installing one a couple times a year or trying a Live CD.
How long has their 'security first' initative been going on? They must not be getting anywhere, because they now have to aquire their security apps.
What percentage of spyware comes in through IE and ActiveX? Seems like they would just fix that. Stop it at the door, don't wait for it to get in and then Try to kill it.
I sure hope they don't start charging for this after the beta. Talk about a conflict of interest. We have this buggy, highly exploitable browser that we do not plan on updating for a couple of years until Longhorn comes out. But in the meantime, you can Buy this program that will maybe help after the fact.
Cable and DSL are a duopoly to some areas and a monopoly in others. I still think they are Way over priced due to this. Their coverage is still lacking in a lot of areas. There are still some fairly affluent areas 25 miles from Atlanta that are not covered.
Satellite is even more expensive and you can forget gaming or uploading.
I clean up PC's all the time for friends. Got one here just tonight. I charge one 12-pack of beer per 500 infections:)
Now a couple of things about those programs. I do install each and most importantly Run Them For Each User account on a XP PC. Adaware I believe has a larger database/scope and catches more things. Spybot is able to get things running in memory by running first thing on reboot. One other free tool that I find very useful is this control panel applet that is what msconfig should be.
There are Many things that these programs do Not catch even when updated. I ran into reaIplay.exe tonight. I had to boot into Safe Mode command line to manually delete it. A couple of weeks ago I had to delete a file from an alternate Windows file Stream. There exists this netherworld of alternate data in XP that is not accessable via any of the regular tolls.
And the last thing I do is install Firefox and tell them to Use It Damnit or I'm upping the charge to a case per 500 infections.
I delivered pizza's in college. There were no sensors on the streets at the time, but most every intersection had those push buttons for pedestrians.
I made a telescoping probe(two broomsticks wrapped with coat hangers that i could extend to ~10') that I could use on most of the city streets as things were often very tight. Sometimes I would jump out of the car and go press the button. Other times I would yell at pedestrians to please punch the button. And never forget the pizza driver motto: 'No Cop No Stop'
I had those lights so down after several years of driving those streets that I could save several minutes per hour. May not seem like much these days, but I grabbed an extra 2$-4$/hour using these tactics.
Might be worthwhile to take evening classes on computer design.
I've spent $75 the last 3 months at Lynda.com taking online courses of the Macromedia Suite. That $75 has given me hours and hours of great learning at a fraction of the price of an evening class at a brick and morter school.
I've cut back on TV and try to watch for a couple of hours a night. Miss some nights, but on others I'll watch for 5-6 hours.
I don't have much artistic talent, but for my web pages I wanted clean fonts, lines, graphics etc. I knew what I wanted, but not how to achieve it properly.
I can know produce output that is exactly what I envisioned, even though that vision might not be so artistically inspired:)
I did a quick cut and paste from Suprnova PC Games into Excel and totalled the values.
1511565 MB, ~1.5 terabytes in PC games being shared.
There were 44977 Seeds and 196735 Downloaders, After all those torrents listed are downloaded there will be 241712 with all that data on their hard drives connected to the internet.
I calculated that total and got 338394133 Mb, ~338 terabytes.

Why in the hell did they name their daughter Milk?

Imagine if they get down close to free? There will not be anything sensable left.

Usually articles such as this, regardless of their source, contain some form of economic feasability statement etc.
It must be expensive.

I Agree
Standalone LCD TV's are often more than the price of a descent computer with LCD monitor and TV tuner.
I've noticed that prices are really dropping lately, but I'm still not that impressed by the technology.

Here's a post from my current VPS provider that does a great job of explaning all 3.
A quote from that show:
One team even proposes that the first Americans came from Europe, not Asia

Maybe this would explain why there seem to be so many Hot, Available Ukrainian Women looking to get out.
