    Phil stated when he left that every PGP product released while he was there contained no hidden back doors.

    It's like those people that have "I am not under investigation by the UK RIP act" on their webpages. It's only illegal (in the UK ) to inform someone that you are under investigation, not to stop informing people that you aren't.
    Now that Mr Zimm isn't there afirming all the code is OK, it speaks volumes.

    Flood the MAC table of the switch, you've turned that switch into a hub.

    Some do, and some just lock everything out, if I remember correctly.
    Anyway, you'd still need to be plugged in physically.

    End to end encryption is the only true way. Although many companies would get very freaked out by the idea of not being able to see what was being sent.

    I noticed that when I download a lot of files at the same time, like say with ncftp, netscape and wget all saving data to the same disk at the same time, I invariably end up with serious filesystem issues at the next fsck

    Load of arse. ext2 is both fast and reliable. If you're having lots of disk problems, you should look at your hardware.

    Because if all the cool OSS stuff runs on Windows, there'll be nothing to convince people to use Linux. I'm all for a killer app that only runs on Linux, which drags people away from the anaethesitising soporific tedium that is Windows.

    Not a bad idea - I'm surprised that I didn't think of that myself.
    Yeah, choose a nice high amount of bits that takes maybe 30 seconds to sign an email with.
    When an email arrives at my server, the first thing it does is verify that signature. If it's bad, sling the email.

    That'll for sure slow down the spammers.
