The only reason that the do not call list was passed, is because not even politicians are immune from phone marketers. This is different, politicians get money from corporations, and corporations like to sue competitors (or perceived threats to there gravy train, like the RIAA suing everybody and there dog for example) so don't expect any real changes in your life time.

The reason that they want your email is to send you political spam. How much do you want to bet that when election time comes everybody is going to get an email from President Bush asking for his reelection? So, it isn't that far of a stretch to guess that we will get called AND spammed next.

  7. Nothing to see here on RIAA To Sue Hundreds Of File Swappers · · Score: 4, Insightful

This is just a publicity stunt and nothing more. They are using the same scare tactics that they always use to try and scare people away from P2P networks. I am pretty sure that they WILL sue a couple of people and make Examples out of them, but I really doubt that they will sue hundreds (must be that RIAA math again) of people who have no money. It is just not financially feasible.

  8. Tax Payers on Bill Would Let FBI Police File-Sharing · · Score: 3, Insightful

Is this where our Tax Paying money is going? Is this why we have the FBI? Funny, I thought it was to keep murderers and rapists off the street, you know...DANGEROUS CRIMINALS. I didn't know that they were going to go after the millions of TEENAGERS who are downloading the latest song off the net.

I must give the RIAA credit though, they finally realized that they could not afford the bill to keep suing people with no money so they bri...er gave campaign contributions to some congressman to make the tax payers pay the bill. Something about the sleaziness of all this that you have to admire.

What will the FBI do though? The FBI likes to go after people with MONEY or is a high profile person. The majority of users donâ(TM)t fit either of those categories. The FBI will make a big show of going after people at first but one they find out the joys of WHACK-A-MOLE P2P they will only go after the big fish like the riaa is doing anyway.

I hope this bill donâ(TM)t pass but I am too pessimistic to believe otherwise

Next season will be SG1's final season, but that is because they want to expand on the concept. The creaters feel that they have gone as far as they can with SG1 and are afraid of killing the show with the the x-files death(draging a show way past its due date). After SG1, a second stargate movie will be created(suposedely with the cast of SG1). Then a cartoon will be created called stargate infinity that is supposed to come on saturdays, and finally a spinoff of SG1 will be created called Atlantis which will be based on the finale season of SG1. I just hope Richard Dean Anderson will be in the spinoff. He is FUNNY as hell, and one of the biggest reasons I watch stargate is because he cracks me up. :) For information about all this go to: http://www.gateworld.net/ it has the best information for all things stargate. :)

The presentation was also running the game on a 2.2Ghz Pentium 4 with that lovely Radeon 9700, so it was no wonder that it was moving smoothly. Both Tim Willits during out little talk and Carmack in his keynote later were quick to point out that the game could run on anything as low as a GeForce1 however. "The game running at full features is with a GeForce3 video card or higher. It'll run on anything down to a GeForce1 because of the hardware acceleration, but we feel that some of the graphical features would have to be turned down. But with the new products from ATI and nVidia coming out before the release of the game, we're sure that we'll have great penetration for the game full feature."

The article stated that an alarm will go off if I am speeding, but it says that the current model does not have GPS(but future models will). So how the hell does it know that I am speeding? Depending on where I am, the speed is different; A rural road can be 45 to 55 miles an hour while the highway is 70MPH. So how does it know whether I am on a rural road or highway?

Another side note, it says the beeping gets louder when you turn up the radio. I predict a huge market boost for portable radio's and cd players with headsets.

It will probably start off with something small, like insurance will go down for teens that have the box. Then the insurance on cars that do not have the box will start going up. Finally when most cars have this, state or federal government will pass a law that makes it illegal not to have it. I doubt it will be Fedaralized, but I am fairly sure that at least one state will pass a law that requires cars to have it sometime in the future.

Could it be because they were changing channels to another station?

Have you noticed how *they* are cutting up the shows much more and inserting more and more ads? I was watching CNN today and was desmaied by how little of actual programming was shown and how many adds was was in between. I am pretty sure it(whatever program was running) started the first ad off in 15 minutes, the second in 10 and fineally every 5 munutes they switched to a commercial.
