    You can only put so much on a command line.
    If you want to patch 22000 machines you are going to have a command line that is over 22000 words long. Thats why I used cat file | while read x.

    The curly braces limit where the varible name ends. eg if x='cheese' $xy is an unset var but ${x}y is 'cheesey'. I normally use them more then I really have to out of habit.

    It's not BIOS problems that make you reboot windows after changing any little detail. It's badly written software.

    I don't believe your recent deal with microsoft is going to work out
    in the interests of your customers.

    Microsoft aim to make it harder to use other operating systems on the same
    hardware as theirs. They are using their existing monopoly in operating systems to produce a monopoly in BIOS software. As alternative operating systems become more widespread your new BIOS will be less competitive in the marketplace.

    This deal will also cause your customers to become suspicious of your motives and less inclined to choose your BIOS where others can be used.

    Personally I don't intend to buy motherboards with your BIOS, or recommend that any of the companies I work for do until this deal is cancelled. It is important to me that hardware I buy is general purpose and can run linux or FreeBSD as well as windows.

    This virus does not exploit any OS weakness.

    Firstly I must disagree about your first point. It does try to run itself automaticly by presenting itself as a .wav file around half the time.

    But you are quite right when you say:
    It exploits STUPID FUCKING USERS.

    I'm amazed just how dumb a lot of so called technical staff are. The fucking -security manager- where I work ran the attachment on the last fake microsoft mail -TWICE-. UNIX guys I work with were running it too! They said it was an attachment so they had to run it to see what it was. How do these people get though life when they are so easily conned??

    OK, Ignorant office staff might run this thing, but technical staff? Security staff?

    This is indeed a problem caused by -STUPID- -FUCKING- -USERS-.

    No, we are discussing a explotable bug in lsh, Microsoft didn't write lsh.

    All software has bugs! Due to popularity, some software bugs are more actively sought that others.

    Just the kind of thing a microsoft paid troll would say, It's one of those stock statements that people use as an excuse for doing a really bad job.

    This was mainly because, despite Be's protestations to the contrary, BEOS borrowed many concepts from UNIX.

    Maybe they did, but it wasn't all UNIX. The GUI was way better than X could ever be.

    operating systems should crash, That losing data is normal, and that having to reboot your computer after even the smallest change shows good design.

    Perhaps they will also teach why compatability with open standards is to be avoided at all costs.
