These arguments Richter is bringing up have had their showing in courts before. Richter complains that spam cop is interferring with his business. Spam Cop is doing no such thing. Spam Cop is not forced upon anyone. Spam Cop has given out their negative opinion about something and the target is just trying to shut them up.
Suppose I create a website which rates hardware for PCs and I decide that such in such Video Card really fucking blows big chunks. This is akin to the manufacter trying to argue that I am interfering with his business because I'm telling everyone his product sucks - as long as I'm not being intentionaly libelous, I would think I'd be 1st amendment protected.
Remeber that lawsuit last year from that copany that magiccaly sprung in Flordia just to flie a suit and disappear? That blew over - Spamhaus is still around and this will too.

So the the federal courts have ruled in favor of these people, this is a Good Thing[TM] IMHO...However, who's to say they can't try to then persue this through ICANN which has its own rather nutty Domain Dispute Policy which has done things like uphold a claim by Molson (beer) to own canadian.biz (which was later overturned in canadian courts...) Who exactly has the ultimate jurisdiction here?

If I put a single clear pixel jpeg that your mail reader will load off my web server, for all intents in purposes, this email "session" has been tracked and I know you opened that email. It may not be an "offical" HTTP cookie but it sure sounds like one to me..Lynx and Pine - my two best friends...

I studied computer science at the University of Massachusetts where we actually had a course in network security. It was pretty awesome - it was taught by the people who did the security for our school and went through things like IDSs, buffer overflows, busting stacks, ARP/IP spoofing, and encryption. We had a lab of 3 subnets of 3 linux boxes each, a router and a server (that incendentally was not hooked up to the internet or anyhting else for that matter) and did labs with SNORT and the likes - absolutely great experience and what I learned in that class helps me every day (I'm a lead tech now at a large webhosting company) Learning security and how exploits really work (versus script kiddies running./HackThisBox.sh) really reinforces topics things like TCP/IP in ways that are really practical and gives you a much more concrete understanding of the underlying technology then the more traditional comp sci undergraduate classes.
Arcades were the thing during the 80's when the newest technology really needed to fit in something the size of a refrigerator but kids barely go to arcades anymore. Nearly all the ones in my area have gone way under and I think microsoft is living in a dream world.
False-Positives should be a non-issue. Either you choose to run a spam filtering software and live with thoose limitations or don't run a spam filtering program and deal with the extra emails about enlarging various organs that you will receieve every day. I do tech support for a webhosting company and people call us every day complaining about their spam but as soon as we offer blocking software based on lists, etc all we get is complaints that some more-valuable-than-gold email is going to get lost and ruin their entire business.
This is a simple choice and people have to learn they can't have their cake and eat it too.

This is not a dupe. The story from yesterday is about how the DoD has certified RedHat server as a common operating environment. This story talks about how IBM and Oracle are attempting to get Linux certified on a wider federal level so that agencies can be permitted to use it. They are two different certifications and two different issues and hence two different stories.
I'm always amazed by the number of clarivoyant slashdot users we have around here who don't need to read a story before posting...
