As I understand, this box is nothing but one big asic that is really good at factoring, not a general purpose CPU. Look at it like this the 80386 Intel CPU and 80387 Intel Floating Point Unit, 386 good cpu, 387 FPU useless on its own, eventually got put on-die with the 486 or first gen pentium.
The CSLab at UK uses Shakespeare characters (Hamlet, Iago) for the SparcStations. The linux/NT4 dual boot lab (multilab) used flower names (rose, pansy). There are also a gaggle of star wars themed servers buried over at the comp center.
Your sig (All a coder really wants, are fast cars, fast women and fast algorithms reminds me of an old Tom T. Hall song Faster Horses, Younger Women, Older Whiskey, and More Money. I recomend searching for it on your favorite P2P^H^H^Hintelectual property stealing program. It is a great story song about a young man who asks an old cowboy about what makes him tick.
Unless you've got a clec in your market(rare, could become extinct real soon), how do you bail out of land line phone service? This is where ma bell has the business world by the balls.
You really should post that to/code, that sounds like a cool feature, of course, it might cause some self-inflicted wounds in VA software headquarters these days.
Depend's on the round,.25 ACP hollow point shot by a pocket pistol can be stopped by some convience store clerk's foreheads or a heavy winter coat, whereas.44Mag/.454 Cassul(sp?) HP or SWC from a 6"-7" pistol barrel will tear through anything short of Level IV plate, typically a big ceramic plate over a cops sternum. In rifle rounds, 5.56 NATO and its modern day kin in a HP round will pass through level III armor as well..308Win (7.62 NATO) will punch through just about anything in FMJ or HP, and if it doesn't, the target will have a concussion or multiple broken ribs..50BMG isn't going to be stoped by anything short of steel plate.
No, a standard cubit is the length of a mans arm from his elbow to the tip of his middle finger, generally accepted as 18" or half a yard (0.48 meters). So the spam could be a 9" addition, quite a bit better than average though.
Short barelled handguns, the "Saturday Night Specials" I mentioned in my post were subject to registration in the late 70's/early 80's, with assurances that they would not be confiscated, then by the time the late 90's rolled around and Canada decided to register all firearms, they made a provision to confiscate the aformentioned short barreled handguns, while having no net effect on crime. If you were a mugger, were you going to turn in your pocket pistol? Would a law abiding citizen? If you use a gun in a crime, fine confiscate the thing, but until a crime is commited, you should have the right to posses that weapon is all that I am saying.
there's really only one use for a gun-- kill or injure people.
So the biathalon, target shooting, hunting, pest control, and self-defense aren't valid reasons for owning a gun? The anti-gunners in the US and around the world (Look what has happened in Austrailia, the UK, and Canada) pick and prod at gun owners rights until there is nothing left. I'll be the first to admit, I don't need a howitzer, mortar, tracer ammo, or a fully-automatic machine gun, but those have been banned in the US since the late 1930's. In the 60's after the assinations of MLK jr. and JFK sr., the anti-gunners yelled and screamed that we needed to take highly accurate "sniper's rifles" of the streets. Then through the 70s and 80's they wanted to get rid of the infamous "Saturday Night Specials", small cheap handguns that anyone could afford, but were not the most accurate pistols on the planet.
I don't mind the instant background checks on gun purchases, but at the same time, I don't want the Gov't to have a record of every firearm and round of ammo I have in my home, in the event of a massive policy shift that vioates the constitution, I want to insure that I have a chance to defend my rights as a citizen of the US.
Bottom line:
The gun regs on the books are fine as the stand, just enforce them. Richmond Virginia did and saw great sucess in decreasing crime.
If you commit a violent (Rape, murder, robbery) felony with a gun in your possesion, you get double the max sentence
If you aren't a US citizen and you are found to be in possesion of a firearm, instant deportation of you and your immediate family, no sense in my tax dollars paying for your stupidity
The French saved the continental army from going tits up during the revolution, so England would be weakened and embarassed, think of it as the US funding a rebellion in Tibet to embarass mainland China or the Kurds in Iraq (Oh wait, we kind of tried that one). Eiffel designed lady liberty as a gift for the US centenial, so the US accepted. Unfortunately, in the past century, the US has had to bail the French out of more messes than you can shake a croisant at (WWI/WWII/Vietnam/Peugot imports into the US). I say we should have let Kaiser Wilhelm have them in 1914, but oh well, that is another discussion entirely.
if the critter was underwater that would allow for greater size, kind of like whales who suffocate upon beaching themselves because of their ribs not being able to support that body at STP

Mike has his enemies, check Seth Finkelstein or FortKnox's journals for info
My map reading class and any USGS map I have seen lists it as declination.
Or you could try this site or this one to get the current declination.
Just as the world phases out RS-232, M$FT decides to use it, sounds right
Wow, is Jar Jar going to be voiced by Eddie Murphy this time? You just decribed the plot line of Shreck.
whoops correct link, I'm such a dumbass
On windows, Analog X's pop-up killer does a great job.

Yeah, In KY, if you buy beer for a 20yr old or a 10 yr old its the same charge, gotta love the bible belt.

yeah, but what if they've been $rtbl'ed, those accounts are worthless, unless they are selling "refurbished accounts" with a 30 day warranty.

Doesn't freeBSD have a solaris runtime similar to their linux binary support? Could it be used to circumvent the solaris only restriction?

When your boss, CTO, CEO, et al want a J2EE application, you either deliver or you are fired, so that little sticker is important

That was both foul and incorrect, its actually a fat, acne-infested 16 year old that provides the sour cream.

Nah, he's probably just going call fork() multiple times, but only 2-3 child processes will result.
No worrys, one half of infinity is still infinity, assuming infinity is not finite.
