If a company makes loses 70 million and makes 100 million, they pay taxes on making 30 million dollars.
Similarly, if a company loses 70 million its first year and earns 100 million money the next year, they still pay taxes on making 30 million dollars. It's only fair.
All that Amazon is doing is counting their current earning against the great number of years where they were losing money.
You didn't even read the summary, why are you asking questions? And why are people reading your post and modding it insightful, when they didn't even read the summary either?
A large number of users (vast majority?) just use their computers to load up a web browser. In this case, who really cares about the OS? Attach a keyboard and a mouse to iOS or Android and you're basically already there.
That's essentially what Chromebooks already are, and certainly where they're going.
God damn it, I just want to kill whoever keeps bringing out these studies!
There are so many studies providing conclusive evidence on both sides of this debate. It's almost as bad as the science of healthy food - just believe whatever you want and 80 studies back it up.
Also, the government should never have banned lead-based paint or gasoline. Drunk driving can be handled by private industry putting breathalyzers on the steering wheel if the buyer wants it. The FDA should be abolished.
You break the articles down wrong. Neither was directly about how great Apple is for the economy. The 1st was: "it's difficult for Apple to manufacture in the US, and here's why." It was information, rather than argumentative. Apple released a press statement: "actually we do a lot of manufavcturing in the US."
Obviously what happened is that Apple was interviewed for the NY Times article, knew it was coming out, and released their own press statement to counteract the negative implications.
What the fuck? This is a minor league way for an undergraduate to write/publish a research paper. It's exactly what professors should be doing. Isn't Wikedia Creative Commons? Why are you anti-open sores?
For this really to be carefully crafted, they'd have to have a control group, where they craft equally (im)plausible scientific papers to a large variety of fields and show that particular fields are especially prone to publishing shoddy papers.
As it is, we all know shoddy papers can slip through to publication, publishing a few more proves nothing. Intentionally trying to slip shoddy papers through does seem like something a scholar should not be doing, and disciplinary action is appropriate.
You have an employee that you're spending tens of thousands of dollars on, and you're concerned about the cost of a single laptop, and you're considering using LibreOffice?
You might save a hundred or two through this, but if they spend just a few hours out of the year having to deal with bullshit, it's not worth it. Get a Chromebook or a Macbook for the employee (and don't fucking worry if it costs an extra $200) because Windows is shit and will give the employee paid downtime. Get MS Office instead of LibreOffice because LibreOffice is shit and will give the employee paid downtime.
DVB2 digital radio: LOL what? That's not even niche. 3D Camera: nobody wants this. Remember how popular 3D TVs or 3D P&S cameras were? MicroSD: Yeah if I go back to 2004 this will be a great place to store my Napster collection. In modern times people just stream, grandpa. LED notifications: I remember my Galaxy 5 had that! Never fucking used it, which I guess is why they got rid of it. 2x more battery: I dunnow. Wouldn't complain, but unless if goes a week like an old Nokia, who really gives a fuck. Samsung sells larger-battery versions of their flagship phones, and nobody buys them.
Well let's compare them to the competition: fucking Windows, and Linux (with all its aggravations and no MS Office + general lack of software).
OK I do run Linux for several systems at work and it's a non-issue. But for a personal computer, I'd much rather use OS X, and using Windows doesn't even enter the range of possibility.
Oh Jesus Christ this is terrible. People who live in rural areas might have to stream their Netflix at 720P. Clearly what's needed is a lot of government spending.
Long working hours, stress due to stupid societal expectations, bullying via social media, poor health care unless you have a cush job... they all have consequences.
Well it's lucky that #1 Japan doesn't have a problem with any of these.
This isn't a run on sentence. The first independent clause is "Walt Disney co. bought," and the second independent clause is "most of the top [...] featured." The two independent clauses are joined by a comma+and, which is fine.
Perhaps "led by the Avengers [...]" confused you? But it's just a standard appositive modifying "films," although a comma is more common than an em-dash. Still it's fine. Similarly, I could say "Breakfast - the most important meal of the day - is becoming too expensive."
In 2002, stocks went from 13,000 to 8,000. Currently the market is around 26,000. If you really lost 2/3rd of your money from the stock market losing 40% of its value but then tripling, you are possibly the worst investor of all time, buying at the high point possible on margin, and then selling it all at the worst possible point.

Thanks for your opinion on the history of Calculus, person who is not even aware of the most basic of facts and provides no real rationale.

Nobody needs anything more than a used Toyota Corolla. 98% of cars are status symbols.
Wow, you normally would expect over-worked fast food workers to be math geniuses. Fucking millenials.
Do you really think anybody under the age of 46 does this?
Get with the times, grandpa. Most people are not old neds.

No. Gender and race are completely understood subjects, we've pretty much reached the limits of human comprehension.

Other planets (especially Jupiter) would likely ensnare the newly created asteroid.
This incredibly stupid. The chances of a random object shot out from earth being caught in Jupiter's gravity well is essentially zero. Space is big!
Or of an interchange of legends/stories between cultures. Or an innate fear of flooding that makes a story about floods popular.
The idea of a worldwide flood doesn't really make sense.

Does Europe even do technology any more? I thought mostly they just got their politicians to tax and regulate it away.
Nazis did euthanasia on the mentally retarded, and old people are basically retards, I guess you're saying?
You're doing a classic Godwin.
Parent should be modded +1 insightful.
