I imported all 4400 songs that I have in one music format or another into my library and can make playlists out of all of them. Sure they have to be in your iTunes library but what exactly is wrong with that? It seems like a simple enough requirement considering you have to build your playlist from some source don't you? I didn't personally rip all 4400+ songs into mp3 format or whatever, but I have all of the files and iTunes doesn't care what machine I created them on, where I got them from, or how I put them on my computer/ipod/whatever. Please explain a bit more so maybe someone here can help.

Gimme a break - let me SPAM their server first before they ban my domain. I only send about 2 emails a month (one to each aunt) to their servers.. Put a lock on your mailbox. If you can't - then replace your mailbox with one you can lock. It should have a slot for mail to go in, and a lockable door for mail to go out through. A lot of identity theft is done via the theft of mail from insecure mailboxes. My elder brother is a cop in oregon and he said that mail/identity theft is one of their most reported crimes.

He strongly suggests people lock their mailboxes. Ideally you can have a slot in your home that mail is put into (so it lands right in your living room) but if you can't have that then a lockable mailbox is your next best alternative.

A lock is a small cost towards a potential huge savings in both time and money. Lock up your mail!

the arrogance of everyone who has posted in response to this joking message is amazing. None of you know a thing about the guy who posted this. You lecture about how greedy and tyrannical the US is - you lecture about how OUR media is corrupt and in cahoots with our govt. Perhaps you should look at your own nations. During the imperial age what nations were colonizing others? It wasn't the US (though to be fair we did have a couple small colonies .. the US actions pale in comparison to the oh so noble Europeans). Even without finding NBC weapons in Iraq - the potential for a decent outcome is still there. Should the administration based their attack on the WMD card? Hell no - but they did and now they are suffering the political pain for it. But Hussein is out of power - and that can't be a wholly bad thing. And to the french guy who questioned the E. Timor thing - and the US involvement in Iraq. What was france doing in Sierra Leon the whole time? Enforcing their own foreign policy on another country? For what reason? Was it anymore valid than the US in Iraq? Probably not. Deal with it folks. A goverenments job is to, first and foremost, look out for its countries self interest. If they aren't then they are failing their people. The Kyoto treaty wasn't written in a way that would have made a difference since the major producers of green house gasses, developing countries, were excluded so why should the US have hamstrung itself with it? Why hasn't Britain jumped into adopting the Euro? It isn't in the interest of historic nationalism - some attachment to the pound - its due to economic self interest. If Germany could fix their crap economy maybe England would join them. But for now the English Govt has to look out for #1. That is its job. France is no different, nor is Germany, or anyone else. The only differnce is the US govt is bigger, and a more obvious target most of the time when people want to bitch about a govt. Instead of trying to fix our system - why don't you guys spend some time working on your own nation(s) and it's problems? Be realists and drop the idealism for a bit. You might be amazed at what you see.

Im just not as opinionated about these issues as you are and frankly I don't think MS = Nazi. That is just plain extreme. There is no real correlation you can make between the actions of MS and Nazi Germany to support that statement. MS may be a dirty cheating backstabbing company - but they dont kill people, practice genocide, or genomic cleansing. They make software/hardware or buy other companies that do it better. This wouldn't be an issue at all if people didn't "steal" these movies and songs. If People didn't give away copies of things they have no right to the industry wouldn't have anything to gripe about.

However, saying copyright is theft is factually inaccurate. Im going to quote someone more qualified than I on this though:

" This is not a matter of opinion, but rather of law. Copyright violation is a tort, i.e., a claimed business wrong that can be settled as a matter of civil law between the two parties. There are sundry defences and exceptions that might apply. One's local public prosecutors won't pay for the investigation or lawsuit -- because they do that only for matters of criminal law. Which brings us to:

Making a copy of an abstract property over which legislated monopoly exists does not qualify as "theft": Theft is a concept in _criminal_ law, under whose provisions it applies only to tangible property (and therefore not to [downloaded songs or movies]). Crimes are wrongful acts that are considered injurious to _society_, unlike civil torts, which are private disputes that can be settled in court. Criminal cases are underwritten and paid for by the state. Proof must be shown beyond any reasonable doubt, instead of a mere preponderance of the evidence (as in civil cases). The claimed victim can't get "damages", unlike in civil law -- as the dispute is between the accused and the state, not the accused and the claimed victim. Last, the accused can be imprisoned, instead of just being subject to monetary awards and court orders." Rick Moen (Linux Mafia - posted this on the rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan newsgroup about "theft" of an e-book. However, its applicability here is obvious.

Course, I tend to forget that the /. crowd likes to lean toward the everything should be free mentality and we all should live in Shangri La where everyone can get whatever they want without consideration of the people who actually created the product.

Finally, just because a company is based in the US it doesn't mean they have no legal complaint in other nations. Many companies hold both US and international patents and copyrights in other nations. With the economy being as global as it is doesn't only make sense to protect your property as much as possible in all of your markets?

Bitch all you want, but if these companies hadn't been publishing the movies/music all these years none of you would have anything to steal/share. This doesn't make those companies infallibe in my eyes but their actions don't make them the hand of the devil either. They are a business protecting their interests - just like you guys contacting ISPs to encourage them to do nothing are trying to protect yours.

Oddly enough though, I imagine if you were the president of one of those same companies I imagine your view would change pretty quickly. People are notoriosly willing to be careless with other peoples money.

as a few others here have posted these have been in use at larger places for quite some time - and in many independant pharmacies. In fact, Rite-Aid uses them in their high volume pharmacies and have been for at least 2 years now. There is one fairly close to my hometown. The mistake most people make is to think the pharmacists main role is to put pills in the bottle. In the old days his/her job was to often make medicines for their patients and to advise them on the drugs benifits/side effects. My father in law is a pharmacist and he often tells me tales of the wierd drugs he used to have to make. He owned his own independant until the early 90s and up till then he was still regularly referred patients who needed something special made. Thats part of why a pharmacist has to know so much about Chemistry and is a core part of their cirriculum (or it once was, im not sure anymore). Now however the pharmacist is the last line of defense to make sure the patient is taking meds safely and only take meds they should be taking. Pharmacists can also be held liable if false perscriptions are filled - which can lead to a world of legal trouble for the pharmacist. Especially when dealing with controlled substances. I know in my father-in-laws Rite-Aid pharm techs do most of the bottle filling and labelling. He checks their work and talks to the patient. Finally he is the one who has to put the label on the bottle - its the last sanity check on the Rx to make sure it is correct.
