    Thank you for the link.

Unfortunently, upon trying the link I did not experiance the same symptomes. Mabey it was a glitch, mabey a coincidence combined with a VERY HORIBLE way of maintaining session (My bet). Well, this is why I only purchase online from well known large companies that would have people sueing their asses off if anything like this were uncovered.

Another advantage to using an older operating system is that if you don't need all the big frills and features of a new OS, the old ones can be much more stable, and run better on much older machines.

I work for a radio station, and what do WE run on? Our MAIN server runs Novel netware (We don't want to put anything critical in Bill's hands,) but all the workstations to record music on to server/edit items/record news/edit EOM times... run MS DOS. INCLUDING the system we have set up in studio 'A' to play all of our music over the air.

The newest thing we have on the MediaTouch system (The music system we use) is Windows 95, and it just manages the list of music and tells the DOS machine when to play what.

As of now the Windows 95 computer has never crashed, although we leave it running almost 24 / 7. And the DOS computers have never crashed at a critical time.

    I belive the phrase is...
If it AINT BROKE, don't fix it...

Yah, well I read the article... and although it did claim stupid users were click-happy, the main point is that someone could confuse a user into thinking that some site was actualy AOL's order page.
And this is a user that is bright enough to distinguish aol.dns2go.com from www.aol.com. Now, if this person had linked to micr0soft.com, then it might have been on topic.
But as it stands, I still have respect for slashdot moderation.
So, please think before you post and claim that a link to porn is on-topic...

They wouldn't even have to. It's the software on THEIR END doing all the work right now anyway, so it would be quite easy for them to just switch the whole thing over to themselves anyway. Just pop up a new web site, accept applications, and replace all the people currently using real names. It's actualy a brilliant yet evil idea.

Let another company do all the hard work...
Have them pay you to do it...
Use your monopoly to keep up your end of the deal...
After a couple of years, cut them out 100%, and take over their incomes.

Now why didn't I think of THAT?

Yes, I also agree that it is not a troll. I find it disturbing that even though he is willing to voice his opinion in a non-demening manner, and gives many facts and arguments supporting him, he is rated as a 'troll' while someone who gives the oposite oppinion chocked full of insults, swearing, and with no facts what-so-ever is rated +3 insiteful/informative (I forget which).

I actually find ad placement to be helpful. If I were to do a search for 'Hosting' on google, looking for a good host, I would get about a million regular results completely irrelevant to what I want, and about 10 paid spots from hosting companies that are successful enough and plan to stick around long enough to pay google to bring them customers.

Now while I know that my search could have been helped by a more careful choice of words, that was just an example. Many searches can lead to irrelevant results but useful ads. How many people read "Computer User" or "Computer Source", two free ad supported computer magazines, for the advertisements?
Enough to keep them in business.

In addition to that, they have phone numbers, fax numbers, and addresses to the states represenatives. They go as far as to give sample phone and letter scripts.
