I nominate The Recruit with Colin Farrell and Al Pacino. The cringe inducing scene was Colin Farrell hacking into a CIA computer by typing in some C++ source code at the graphical login prompt.
I'm bummed too. I never really got into SG-1 or Atlantis, but I downloaded the first episode of SGU and got hooked. Now, I'll never know who created the universe or if they get home. D'oh.
Is it wrong that instead of being outraged that civil liberties were violated, I just wanted to know how the tracking device worked? Does the FBI plant it and collect it later, or does it transmit position information? (Can I build a little Faraday cage for it when I find one on my car?)
I was about halfway through the game a few weeks ago when it crashed on a level change, and told me it faulted on msvcr80.dll. I emailed the support email address in the booklet and got no help at all other than a message from the autoresponder. I can't attach a debugger to it to get a hint of what might be happening, because SecuROM won't launch the game if it detects a debugger. Did this happen to anybody else? If so, how did you fix it?
The FBI won't usually investigate a computer intrusion unless there has been a significant amount of money lost because of it. Perhaps the author believes that avoiding Windows 2003 Servers will reduce the chances of infecting some big corporation's "very important server".
Time Warner cable took over from Comcast in my area too. I immediately lost the INHD and INHD2 channels. Then for a short time I got HDNet and Universal HD. Then those went away. When I called Time Warner about it I spent an hour on the phone and they reset my cable box. I then lost two ESPN HD channels. Then the customer service rep. finally figured out what was going on and told me I need to upgrade to a more expensive package to regain all the HD channels I lost. I said "No thanks", and he didn't seem too surprised. After the reset the only HD channels we got were the over-the-air HD channels, Discovery HD, TNT HD, and an HBO HD channel. Meh.
I think going back to school would be a good idea. You'll have an opportunity to take a few courses from several research areas in CS and try them out. Maybe you will like AI. Perhaps you'll get into grid computing. Maybe you will discover that you hate databases. Plus, when you're done, you'll have a degree. A degree might open a few doors that were closed to you before, although you already had the right experience and knowledge.
I heard Matt Yoder talk about a "Death Envelope" on Pauldotcom Security Weekly. He gave a presentation about it at DefCon. The slides are here.
I believe Tripwire grew out of an academic environment. (Purdue? I think.)
I use PuTTY daily.
I think I'm the only one. Every election is like a Washington Generals game.

Crap, now I have to worry about being landed on by a rich environment-hater too?
USB internal keyboard not working on macbook: what to do?
Apparently there is.
The Mythbusters exerpiment sets look like fun to me, but if your kids already know NdGT, the sets might be a little below their level.
They have the technology?
You could also get a network tap. I've had my eye on the Teeny Tap for a while.
Sure they are. It's just a Bayesian classifier. It needs to be trained.
I have a big scoop about the internal working of the NSA.
Yup. If you run WinDbg, or Process Explorer (or anything that has debugging hooks), the game simply refuses to start.

So, a gold one of these?
I'd look for Magrathea.
I believe Scalix was designed to do just that.

So we just have to rename Internet Explorer to "download utility for Firefox"?
This really cements my opinion that you DKWTFYTA
:)
You must know what you're talking about. That looks like an OS/400 command to me.
