... one of the most immoral, corrupt, and untrustworthy companies in the world. After their trackrecord of lies and illegal acts it really couldn't be a surprise to anyone....
I'd suggest to you that what you just described could be ANY fortune 500 company. Put IBM where I removed the word Microsoft, and suddenly it could be a marketing campaign to get Linux into the spotlight. Just sayin', not EVERYTHING wrong in the world is MSs fault:)
The real threat will come to Microsoft not via some certain tech advance - it will come in the form of a slow penetration of anti-MS and pro-Linux gossip being spread throughout the business community.
It sounds as if you're depending on FUD to get Linux to climb over MS... While certainly useful at times, it's not a business solution I'd personally want to rely on.
Valid point, does anybody know if there is any consideration for bulk prices? Eg. I buy a full album and I get them for.77/song (price pulled out of the air of course) rather than.99/song?
Well since bananas can't directly hold data that well since they rot so quickly, well have to use those bananas to store data by some other indirect means.
So, would this be what they call bit rot??
Sorry...
These WILL NOT succeed until they are as easy to use and as convenient as paper.
This thing (or some next gen. variant of it) doesnt have to replace paper to succeed. Paper works cause it also has MANY other applications:
you can swat flies with it
you can cover your head in the rain
you can sit on it when you're cold
you can shred the evidence (far more visual impact than just deleting).
the list of course goes on... this thing will work side by side with paper, not replace. And if it's half as nifty as it looks, I think it will become a use filled tool.
Not sure if this is part of the project you're refering to, but Nova Scotia Power uses the tides of the Bay of Fundy to generate power... page also gives a BRIEF overview of how tidal power works for those interested - but not THAT interested:)
Perhaps the organizational aspect of it is a positive move, however, I find it hard to believe that there won't be people there yelling "Linux Rulz" and so on. It's like any protest/march/gathering... it just takes a couple of bad apples, and the whole group goes down with them... and we all know just from reading postings on/., some people just don't get it.
But I'll just shut up now...
If this theory is true, than any person who uses an alternative to Windows is smarter. I really think that people that follow a "herd" mentality are really going through life with blinders on and might not be flexing their intellectual muscle.
While I'm sure this is going to be taken as flamebait by some people, but isn't most of/. working on the "herd" concept against MS? I use both, so I just don't know where I stand (though I generally find the nearest band-wagon:)
You know, I've often wished that they killed me off of TNG, because that would have guranteed my return, multiple times, across numerous series and movies.
Well, there's always the movie to make your wishes come true
Maybe they'll even give you one of them nifty read shirts from TOS:)
However, the typical car IS consistent with the typical truck. If you do comparisons, at least compare 'apples and oranges', and not 'apples and banjos'.
But that's just my opinion...
Which one is scarier, again?
:)
Walmart: scares me more than any MS-AOL-TIME-WARNER-IBM-GM merger ever could

At $0.99 (US) a song, this is still expensive

just a thought...

I'm sure there's something ironic about QNX being just off Michael Cowpland Drive... I just can't pinpoint it quite yet...
Actually there's this story & link from the Ottawa business Journal. Dunno if it is anything like Not Nortel or not, but it may be a start for them...
Troll Thursday? Crap, and to think I wasted most of it sleeping... Thanks for the warning though...
I find the worst is when you don't recieve any sort of an ack...

and anyone with karma of 0 or negative can be rated a tac-er.. troll
sigh... Sometimes it's just not worth it to post in the morning...
I hope it's for real... if only to be forever known as 'that idiot who actually bought one' :)
:P
What the heck, I figured my karma is 'positive', must have some to burn

You say that like any of these country's have ever been a threat to U.S. interests... sheesh.

I hope the decision makers stick to the principle of "What's good for the consumers," and not just "What's bad for Microsoft."
Exactly, the anti-trust laws are in place to protect the users/consumers, not reward MS competition.
