The only real problem I see with mouse + keyboard is that some games require you to hold down several keys at once to do something, and that can cause problems. Like, try playing MSHvsSF under MAME. Can you select any of the secret characters? I can't. Holding down the key mapped to start plus a direction key makes the rest of the keys on my keyboard fail to function. Probably a buffer overflow or something.
The fellows at www.lunarembassy.com have announced(on the Conan O'Brian show, no less) their interest in selling the entire planet of Pluto for about $250k. If Pluto gets downgraded to a mere asteroid or Oort-object or what not, will that lower it's real-estate value?
The linux 2.4.1 animation looks more like the crystalline entity from ST:tNG. Can you see Lor in there anywhere?
note: due to the absurd size of the movies, I'm just talking about the screenshot on the page itself. My 56k modem isn't going to like downloading those movies.
I think the December '99 Popular Science(or was it december '98? eh something like that) had an early article about deuterium-fluorine lasers that the Air Force was testing. Their original test platform was an observatory-like structure in New Mexico that could project a coherant laser that had a range listed as "currently unknown". They did some firing tests with it and they were able to take out sattelites in orbit. The article then went on to explain that the Air Force wanted to install miniature versions of the laser into the nose of larger planes(747 wasn't mentioned specifically, I don't think), and then eventually into unmanned orbital modules that could be scrambled into orbit to respond to ICBM attacks.
Once you have your cyber-arm installed, and you have wired reflexes level 3 and a reflex recorder, you can use the formula to pre-program the perfect pancake flip. And a few other things, too . . .
Bravo! Three cheers for Trollburger! Your anal spelunking should be seen by all slashdotters, and praised for its form, substance, and anatomical correctness. Please mod parent up!
If you don't like the guy under the knife, you could try to kill him with a DoS attack. Then you would be a true haxx0r. Or, even better, hack into the operation equipment . . . oh, the possibilities.

Currently, the fastest platforms for bandwidth-hungry P4s use dual-DDR setups, not RDRAM. It's good to see that Intel is aware of the potential of dual DDR and is getting away from RDRAM. Sure, there's the SiS quad-channel RDRAM solution coming as well, but we'll see if it really works all that well. I like SiS, don't get me wrong, but I sincerely hope they keep cranking out the dual-DDR chipsets too. SiS655 r0x0rs.
And who wants to buy RDRAM anyway? Does anyone think supporting Rambus, Inc. is a good idea?
Please support slashdot trolls. Mod down all posts that seem to be coherant. Even this post, if necessary. Thank you.
On a side note, if they do design Grantsdale well, who cares about your legacy PCI slot? Stuff like sound cards, NICs, modems, etc should all be integrated with the motherboard ala nForce 2. Or, at least, the option for such a configuration should exist. I, for one, know that the only PCI card I have right now that I actually use is a horribly dated Ensoniq AudioPCI. Integrated sound solutions, even now, kick its ass. Oh, wait, and my modem. wheee. 56k powah
Anyway, old PCI stuff should be easily replaced by integrated components on the motherboard. One available legacy PCI slot would likely accomodate the rare exceptions.

Real owners? You mean the Canaanites? Seen any of them lately? Neither have I. Guess the Jews should just keep it warm for them until they show up.

There's the baby alien ship sucking energy from the warp core, so feed it some bad milk before its mother gets angry!
