and how am i supposed to watch blu ray's without an optical drive?
The same way you make toast, despite the fact that your PS3 doesn't have an integrated Toaster slot.
I just tried what you said but my toaster melted the disc and almost started a fire!
On the up side, you were able to avoid the unskippable FBI warnings and previews. And depending on your choice of movie, the end results may have been more entertaining as well.
If they could clone and replace "certain" organs with, oh, say, perhaps, LARGER versions, they could pay for all future research with the proceeds of this technique.
Of course *I* don't need this, but I'm sure *others* might...
I'm not really sure what finding life on Mars will do for us though. It will show us that life on another planet is possible (something I personally believe already), but other than that knowledge, what will we gain from it? It won't help solve our current environmental, economic of political problems, will it?
The harsh conditions on Mars aren't suitable for humans, so there's no hope of living there anytime soon. Knowledge for the sake of knowing is great, but what will this information help us achieve?
Perhaps I'm not seeing the big picture. Can anyone enlighten me?
And extend this to the "other" people, AKA corporations that do this. Apple, Coke, Microsoft...the list goes on.
If you don't like the loopholes, then close them. But start from a position of honesty and integrity before criticizing others.
I have increasing contempt for the Gawker content as well - especially Gizmodo, but to a lesser extent Jalopnik.
The articles seem to be steadily getting more childish and unprofessional, often with sensationalist headlines and highly opinionated content which tends to draw a raucous comment section. Which, naturally, leads to more page views. Dare to point this out using the same language used in the post and you're banned. That's childish behavior as well.
I admit that some of their properties are of higher quality, but the general Gawker enterprise has a whiff of the National Enquirer. It's far less about good blogging, and far more about goofy "look at me" tactics now.
Canada, eh!
We still love the Queen more-or-less and it rains a lot on the West Coast. You'll feel right at home.
Plus, you won't have to change the way you spell; colour, neighbourhood, etc.
With my new invention, what I call "The Sugar Stick", Bender has been given god-like abilities and can breathe new life into millions of decrepit old machines!
The lawsuit they brought against the makers of Rock Band and Guitar Hero was tossed out as the judge agreed that the toy controllers were not capable of making music on their own (or something like that).
This time, I wonder if Gibson may have a better chance of winning. But then, I doubt that these guys will do all that well so what would Gibson possibly gain other than make themselves look more stupid?
Anyway...
The Aptera has a great drag coefficient - but I don't see any way to attach a front licence plate and still maintain anywhere near that level of slipperiness. In states and provinces where both front and rear plates are required by law how do they plan to deal with this?
I hear that it will initially be classified as a motorcycle (requiring a motorcycle licence and helmet I presume) but what happens after that?
Just wondering...cuz it looks like an fantastic design and I'd love to drive it.
Yup, I agree. My point was that a few outages with no loss of data that I'm aware of (looking at YOU Mobile Me & RIM) shouldn't be sufficient grounds to abandon Google Apps. I trust that Google has adequate propeller-head power to keep things running smoother than virtually everything else out there, and so far I've been very satisfied.
Plus, when the DHS steals my laptop en route to the US, I can still access most of my data and files after coughing up a few hundred at Best Buy for a cheap POS to get me through with little lost billable time.
The last few places I worked had periodic network outages, random print server crashes, workstation blue screens. This caused hours and hours of downtime for dozens of people over the course of a year.
When Google Apps or Gmail goes down, exceedingly rare as it is, people threaten to "abandon the cloud". I wish we had threatened to abandon the lame infrastructure that our parent company refused to update or spend money properly maintaining. For my $0, Google does one hell of a better job than the three helpless infrastructure guys could do with almost zero budget.
For places that either can't or won't put cash into a proper local infrastructure, relying on the cloud is a cost-effective option. Even with occasional downtime.
P.S. I've just started playing with Gears, and it seems to bridge the gap nicely so far.
It was a great show that Fox in its short-sightedness cancelled way WAY too early to tell if its was going to be a hit or not.
I have the DVDs and share them with as many people as I can in hopes that they will see the quality of the writing and acting and get hooked. Now that the show has been picked up for broadcast in the 'states again this should help the word get out.
BSG is being called the best sci-fi on TV right now, and Firefly (IMHO) was the best sci-drama I've ever seen.
Watch the series and if you like it, go see the movie.
I don't know why you'd want to see some loser play with himself on stage for an hour, but if that's the way you swing more power to you.
Anyway, I saw a performance of One Man Star Wars at the Victoria Fringe Festival in Victoria, BC, Canada. Its incredible. This guy also performed his One Man Lord of the Rings on another night, and it was just as good. The amount of energy he puts into these plays is amazing, and he's soaking with sweat by the end of the performance. He does a pretty good job with the voices, and his Gollum impression is great.
My girlfriend went to theatre school with him and we got to chatting with him after the OMSW performance, and apparently he was invited by Lucas to perform at some Star Wars convention somewhere in California in front of thousands; he was awed by the positive response.
So, before slagging him and commenting on how aweful it must be, perhaps you should STFU and STFP (see the f'n play).
Anyway, if you are a fan of Star Wars I'm sure you'll get a kick out of this. I hadn't seen LotR as many times as SW, so I wasn't as familiar with the material, but I still enjoyed it. Go see it and make up your own minds.
...please respect what's left of the physical environment too.
The physical environment isn't going anywhere. It may be changing, but we're not ending up with "less".
Then you should be in favor of filtering FOR adult content.
Exactly. Pr0n and /.
What else is there on the Internet anyway?
Double duh. (Things are bigger in Texas after all...)

Perhaps translucent is more accurate. Everything they show us is distorted.

I hope developing nukes or soft drinks aren't examples of the high points of life.
Maybe having the capability to develop nukes, but choosing not to is.

I've been doing a half-assed job for years.
Nope. I hope they don't mean they're banning the Blood and Chrome web series that's coming out soon.
:-D
Only one target OS. Is it fair to say that the US android arsenal is "fragmented"?

Oops, are 13 episodes considered an entire season or 1/2 a season? I dunno. Anyway...
...and maybe, just maybe we'll see more of Firefly than the first 1/2 season.

Wrap a Slaver Statis Field around it and BLAM-O! ...Instant variable sword!
Good ol' Larry Niven.
