Fair enough, but should freedom of religion give one the right to slander a business to attempt to force it to stop selling something that is religious?
Is Wal-Mart actively promoting some religious idea or merely delivering a product for which there is demand? It pains me when people forget that freedom OF religion does not mean freedom FROM religion, regardless of the religion or ideas. It's even worse when people decide to use something like supply and demand to promote their dislike for "big businesses" like Wal-Mart and go on a near religious crusade of their own to undermine the very ideals our constitution guarantees
I have a Garmin iQue M3.
After reveiwing the maps and routing of Tom Tom, Que and microsoft streets, I went for the iQue. I love the address search and business seach, though some times it missess a residential address by as many as 5 houses and there are quite a few more Starbucks in the world than it can find.
We had a heck of a time find coffee stops in Alabama and northern Georgia... We had to resort to actually calling a Starbucks (telephone numbers of businesses are included on the Garmin iQue) that wasn't very near the highway and asking where a better stop would be.
my wife and i discussed this 4 years ago and decided that bubble tests would be a real spoiler. she and both my sons already deal with the problem of being second name people, meaning they use just their first initial.
my oldest (8) likes that our phone number spells his name and likes to write that on emails he sends, so it might have been cool for him. my second has a name that can be totally spelled in with numbers and symbols, but though he types pretty well at age 3 (still hunt and peck and only rudimentary spelling) he is more into sports and bullying, so we probably made the right decision with him.
my father always complained about spam and the quantities he received, and i had almost none. One day, i signed up for Hotwire.com and within 24 hours i was getting 30 spams a day, and all the same stuff my dad gets.
I will never use hotwire again.
i have a 40 hour replayTV and once or twice in the past couple years it has been nearly full.
When it got full, i deleted 10 episodes of blues clues (my youngest loves that one!) leaving me with 10 episodes.
why would i need more?
i use lossless compression schemes because when a lossy format is decoded and reencoded, the result is a really bad sound, no matter what the compression rate.
320kbps is not the format that most users appear to want, because the files are larger.
Sadly, i have many 128kbps mp3s that sound bad. noticeably bad - especially when it is an audience recording where crowd noise is present.
I agree that require flac or shn for soundboard recordings might be overkill when a 320kbps is available, but they should not be responsible for providing every compression scheme at every desired bitrate -- downloading a lossless version gives me the freedom to ensure that i have the compression scheme I want at the bit rate I want and the ability to change my compressed copies to a different format if something better comes along or I acquire a different player.

i don't think it's the bands that put them on etree - it's the traders and seeders.
if you would like a trade....

I've had digital cable for quite some time and it is still unable to deliver theater sound. AT&T told me they had no plans to upgrade their boxes to allow for digital theater sound.
"Since the policy states that copies can't be made for other people, the entire network of live performance trading (for Phish, anyways), has just been destroyed,"
you are incorrect here. the non distribution only affects the soundboard recordings released by the band, not the audience tapers that are there. Just like DMB. DMB also does not allow soundboards to be released. And, at least, phish as resonable ticket prices, not the $75/person charged by dave.
by the way, it took me forever to get this and the previos comment submitted. I think the phish phans have slashdotted slashdot. They have also shut down ticketmaster... and people think live music distribution doesn't work?
For over two years this band has been on hiatus, yet their 4 show holiday run may be some of the most difficult tickets to attain, ever. Why so much popularity for a very non-mainstream jam band? The free distribution of live recordings of nearly every show they've played and the behind the scenes efforts of dedicated fans like david "zzyzx" steinberg, paul glace at Phantasy Tour and the crew at etree.org with their nearly anal quality hounds tracking the the recording status and quality of most legally traded music on the internet.
Live distribution shows what a dynamic band this really is. Not a cookie cutter, same show every night type band! Check them out.

Sort of like the muslims christians hate?

sounds to me like a) you have you ports firewalled, b) don't have much BT experience and c) you are more bitter than others your age.

as one of the fans that questioned the original use of shn over flac, i am quite pleased to see this change.

i'm surprised reuters didn't get hit for carrying the story.
Best application I can imagine!
Topless Bars and Horsetracks will likely be the first places to devise RFID shields, offering safe havens for their customers!
NYE, traded hampton for vegas plus have denver and geeensboro.... woo hoooo cincy will be great
.shn is free, isn't it? Why would ANYONE want something in a lossy compression format?
no. I mean the 75 each per ticket at soldier field.

sadly, phish has not credited etree.org for the wide distribution it has facilitated.
