    Iran isnt as bad as it used to be from what I have read, but surely ISP's there could have a record of this and the Anonymizer site could be one of them. It is reasonable to assume they will execute a few just for using connecting there at all.

    this is under the 5000 hours of long life bulbs which cost less than $3.

    Who cares how much the bulb costs ?

    Almost all of my no-name disks are dead after 3 years. Some of my verbatims are dead to. Hard disks at 1/gig now seems cheap compared to my dvd writer and 20c per gig disks. My bet is those optodisk-RW will be dead in two years.

    With high quality lenses/camera and a tripod and low ISO, 16MP (RGB at each pixel) which is about the maximum resolution that high quality film scanners can read at. Here is a link

    This has one CCD as someone else said. There are no 3 or 4 CCD regular cameras that I know of. The Foveon ones are like 3CCD except they do it with layers.

    Before I read this story I was segmenting my logins like you suggest. I am adding "force" to that by encrypting the full access login with a key that can be bruteforced in a known period of time (Ill try just a few hours at first, maybe 8 or 24)

    I did this in about 8 weeks when I didnt have other commitments. I have maintained this for a year.

    1hr a day biking + weight training twice a week.

    I was eating much less at the time as well, and stayed away from starches.

    Now to maintain my weight I have cut out alot of the foods that most people consider "empty" calories and stay away from starches still.

    2 or 3 cents for color ??

    Try 2 or 3 cents for many $1000k printers at 5 percent coverage. Page coverage of toner is the big issue. Printing photos ? Try 50c to 1 dollar a page.

    By the way if you want truly low cost (per page) black and white printing try kyocera. But these printers cost thousands.

    For some applications, like a main memory database, latency is key (bandwidth can be way below maximum for large number of small random read/writes). It looks like only large transfers were tested. None of his results suprise me. What I dont know is how certain settings affect latency.

    mythtv has the feel of an app thats going to go all the way. I imagine in the next 2 years hearing that 100k people have it. All the others look like they are done by people who will NEVER finish / polish it so lots of not to techy people will use it.

    This is why i doubt very much they will ever make this insane monitoring only take place in a US version of MI5. That way they could only be used to fight terrorism. Lots of people want to say goodbye to civil liberties protections. The RIAA most of all I'm sure is thrilled they might have an easy time being ABLE to prosecute people for pirating.

    Amazon has no metamoderation.
    Slashdot does and it seems to have some weaknesses to me. I bet a large percentage of 3,4,5 point postings are a result of people using second accounts to moderate thier own posting up.

    I aggree but will go further. TV is a drug. It keeps me from doing school work and good stuff in life. I gave it up completely. I know a friend who used wire cutters to cut the plug off his TV to quit "cold turkey"
