  1. Re:Some games already support on Will Next-Gen Consoles Kill Off PC Gaming? · · Score: 1

I guess the next gen of consoles having standard USB ports will probably help the adoption of support for these types of input.

Let's not forget that the PS2 (regular one, not sure about the slim one) has two USB ports, and also had a FireWire port for a while (in the guise of iLink). Those didn't particularly seem to help anything. The only game that I ever had that took advantage of them was Unreal Tournament (yeah, I realize there are lots of USB steering wheels for driving games out there). I hafta admit that it was kind of cool to be able to play a console FPS with a keyboard and mouse...

IIRC, the last generation of Newtons used the same processor (StrongARM @ ~200MHz or so) that was used in PocketPCs like 6 or 7 years later.

You're forgetting that Joe Sixtooth has no idea how TLDs are structured in the first place (whether in theory or in reality). Giving him a slider with some generic concepts at each end is a lot easier than expecting him to learn what the various domains were designed for. OTOH, giving powerusers an advanced option with the checkboxes you mention wouldn't be a bad idea...

Well, especially after reading the little blurb that Time put along with Barry Lyndon, I would certainly have to agree with their inclusion of it:
"The director dreamed of telling stories entirely through images, and in this extraordinarily beautiful existentialist anti-epic he came close to realizing that goal."

If you haven't seen this movie, it truly does convey an entire story through the use of amazing cinematography. Every scene and shot in it is utterly beautiful. Well worth the 3 hours it'll take away from your life.
