I have to wonder why you downloaded another copy of a program for which you already had the install media. Wouldn't downloading a keygen have sufficed?
Yes, I'm well aware that NeXTSTEP didn't have any MacOS code. But when the grandparent makes a statement like "but OS X has nothing to do with those old "System #" OS's" he is very clearly wrong. Maybe you should learn a little more about reading comprehension before posting.
Unless they've gone back on what they said before, this is not a sequel to Ico. Yes it's made by the same devteam. Yes it's done in a similar style. However, this does not make it a sequel.
OS X came from NeXTSTEP which Jobs built completely from scratch without any MacOS code.
Yes, OS X is derived from NeXTSTEP. It is also derived from the older (classic) MacOS. To say that it contains no MacOS code shows that you're really not aware of the history. There is an entire very heavily used API (carbon) that utilizes classic MacOS code.
My boss has been using computers since the early 80s, and was a tech journalist during that time. He still doesn't even understand the simple concept of a zip file. I don't think it's just the jargon that's too difficult. I think it's simply that computers are too difficult for many people. And no, I don't think that dumbing any of it down will ever make it better. I really think it's just that some people out there are too dense to begin to understand anything remotely technical.
Although your point has already been refuted, it should also be pointed out that in the examples you give above (well, photoshop and paintshop at least), you're still using the epson imaging software, except as a plugin (via TWAIN).
The point is that they had a chance, didn't, and now it's too late. The "feature" is already out there, waiting for the networks to use it. Were TiVo to roll out a new update that removes this "feature" then that would change things. Until then, they've already sided against the customer.
I am well aware that there have been breakout boxes for a few of the highend Creative cards which can give you decent results. However, his statement was implying that Creative is the standard for musicians recording on PCs, which it very simply is not.
Using Opera's validate option, it still fails as HTML 4.01 Strict. However, the number of errors are in the low double digits, which is an enormous improvement over the hundreds the old code would give.
There goes the illusion that my pizza delivery job makes me irresistable to women.
Well duh! You need to get into the plumbing business...
Plague Plagues Plaguevictims?

(too old school?)
Nope. Just lame...Really really lame...(As were the movies)
And maybe I should've learned to quote the correct phrase in my initial comment.

It's really quite simple. "Generally bug-free" means that it "usually works" "most of the time."
I got one of those too. Thankfully the software that they sold me fixed that problem.
Oh, I see what your problem is...
And what's a "picture"?
Then again, we don't really NEED to know how to do that to do our job (as IT professionals), do we?
You do realize that this is the exact same argument that's coming from the other side of the aisle, don't you?

What if someone yelled "STOP!" and I didn't hear them?
Was Menezes even told to "stop"?
What's the matter? Don't you like gazpacho?

Go {verb} your {adjective} {noun}, gramps!
BTW has anyone else noticed the changing Slashdot GUI lately?
Nope. And I didn't read the article yesterday explaining it either.

As a musician, I can say Creative is still the standard in audio quality for PCs.
You can stop right there. If you're using 1/8" miniplugs for any serious audio work, you clearly don't know what you're talking about...
...but there are Thursdays when things happen, like not being able to submit replies, or replies are submitted and not seen.
Get with the times! That's what Mondays are for now.
Forgot to add the congrats to the /. crew. Congrats guys! Good job!
