I haven't had a chance to read through the full article/blog/whatever yet (I'll do that at lunch), but this sounds like something I noticed over the weekend while browsing the Best Buy site. Companies are now producing ED-compatible TVs. They list all sorts of compatible display modes (1080i, 720p, 480p, etc), but then mention that they downscale them for display on the TV. Is this just some way of offering half-assed support to unsuspecting consumers?
...they don't expect to make a steady profit with the Xbox until 2007.
And since they've stated that they're EOLing it in 2007, I guess their ultimate plan is to NEVER make the xbox profitable. How did these guys make so much money again?
"Pony up for the shipping"???? Ummm, yeah, that 60 cents is really gonna fucking break you. As for your claim of "Netflix said I was on my own, and if I didnt hurry up, they would charge me for the DVDs" I call complete bullshit! If you didn't hurry up? Yeah, that's exactly what I hear from Netflix when I keep movies out for a few weeks...
Even if there were a card that didn't support it, it would be a moot point since his powerbook supports it (only one end needs to sense that it should flip modes).
It was just some schmoe who put together a patch for Safari.
Yes, the same "schmoe" who happens to be the development lead for the Safari project. Seeing as how he works for Apple, it would most certainly be Apple who did this.
Junior Lisa Aigner said although she understands the purpose of the study, she feels Jagatic and Johnson should have been more forthcoming about the e-mails.
Ahh yes, we all know this study would have worked had it had the disclaimer "This is only a test"
The most important question to ask, however, is "Is this some serious insight into the media biz, or just some slashdrone repeating something he read a few days ago?"
Today managers can't fund a good solution because their budget doesn't allow for the necessary development.
Well, that should be easy enough to fix. Lemme just add a coupla zeroes to this cell here, rerun this macro, and voila. The money's now in the budget... : p
As someone pointed out in the other thread, that copy is most likely already on ebay. It's a bit suspicious that this copy is located in Chicago, disassembled, has what looks to be whiteout where a library stamp would be, and has the disclaimer "This article was not a library copy."
No, I want to be able to use the original media! And remember, it has to be able to play wax cylinders, 8-tracks, vinyl, cassette, MD, etc all through the same single slot that it uses to play games...
I'm looking for a videogame system that will play every game that's ever been made out there. I don't care how much it costs. I want it to be able to play every imaginable format, all through a single universal slot. Oh, and it can take any sort of controller ever made too. And while you're at it, make sure it can play every type of audio and video format (I'm planning on using it for my 1337 home theater setup). And don't forget to make sure that it'll be able to play everything that comes out in the future, too. I realize I may be asking a bit much, but I'm pretty sure it's doable...
My bad. He is talking about entering the score as the composer (so maybe your reading isn't as bad as i thought : p). His comment still ignores the human aspect of music playing/performance by suggesting that a purely mechanical rendition is what the composer intended. That is, unless of course, he intends for his music to be rigid and lifeless.
I remember the first time I let that ball slip past me in Pong. I felt like I'd let the entire world down. Man, that was such a crushing defeat for me. I don't think I've experienced anything quite so humiliating since then...
*looks around and slowly raises hand*
Yeah, because while the patch cures cancer, it'll end up giving you syphilis instead...
Having read TFA, I see that it's not even the same thing at all. I still think that these ED displays are a load of crap though...

Are we going to get a dupe of this in two weeks?

How will this affect all those litigious bastards or miserable failures out there?
It's hard to understand the nuisances of a subculture unless you particulate in it yourself.
Ummm, not really quite sure how to respond to this line...I think his problem is that he clearly understands the nuisances of the subculture... : p

If Microsoft was going to start naming operating systems consistently...
then the first version of NT would have been 1.0 rather than 3.1?

With Google indexing 8 billion pages, even spending 1/100 of a second per page would make indexing a multiple-year task...
You seem to be implying that Google can index only one page at a time...
What about scat singers...
Can anyone tell me the origin of this term? Is it just cos the shit comes pouring out or something?

Yes! That's exactly what I want. Except in a game system... : /

Because that would take way too long to overclock. Sheesh, don't you have any perception of reality? : p

I think it partially has to do with the money.
It doesn't partially have to do with money. It wholly has to do with money.
