From the article: "It's a slap. It's a slam dunk. Pick your sports metaphor. This makes it tougher for people already facing an uphill battle to compete."
Not to mention the fact that they're using all of the profits from the iPod to take losses on other products like the Mac mini. Expect to see more of this..
Similar situation with DirectTV paying the NFL a large sum of money to televise the NFL's Sunday Ticket package exclusively on DirectTV. I can get every other league package on my cable setup except the NFL and they just re-upped for five more years.
Bad idea for stupid parents who are going to be outwitted by their kids just turning off the phones?
You don't think that any parent that employs something like this wouldn't punish a kid for turning their phone off? I'm not 100% b/c I'm not a parent, but I can almost promise that there are already provisions between certain parents and their children using cell phones today. You can bet that there are parents that will punish their kids if their phones are turned off on a Saturday night while the parent is trying to reach them.
The last thing this nation needs is another drawn out court battle to decide the presidency. Kerry did the honorable thing considering his slim-none chances of pulling Ohio out.
Life will go on. It's a sad day for sure, but life will go on. We are all Americans, first and foremost.
You have to watch the ads to see network television. You're paying for it.
Weak semantics..
I am not implying that political speech on network television is illegal. I was merely refuting the point the parent had made asking the difference between F9/11 and Stolen Honor.
What a baseless crap statement. Which party is more tolerant in regards to flag-burning?* Which party lead a coordinated effort to jam the phone lines of the other party during "get out the vote" calling efforts on election day 2002? Which party helped back a massive campaign to force theater owners into not showing F9/11? Yeah, thought so.
* I proudly served as a United States Marine and nothing breaks my heart like seeing the United States flag burned, but I also understand that giving others the right to burn the flag is what makes this nation so great.
I know it may sound trivial, but FavIcon support would be great as well. It's buggy at best in IE. I never really realized how widespread use was until I started surfing FireFox only. Kind of funny that out of just about every major website in the world, microsoft.com is the only one that doesn't send a FavIcon down the wire.
A better question to ask is, what the fuck is an operating system doing with those resources?
I don't know.. perhaps tuning to three channels television channels simultaneously and digitally recording each show at DVD quality? Possible radio capabilities to match with whatever new components that will connect. Digital media eats up good memory fast.
You know it's a video game when the Giants are getting pressure on McNabb..

A slap??! Oh, he was talking about Warren Moon..
15 years may be a little long, but when you get a chance to jump into bed with Disney 2.0, you do it.
EA is big enough now to survive a couple of well-placed shots in the foot, anyway.

If this article isn't /. in a nutshell, I don't know what is..
I just love that Neil Young classic "Southern Shop". Hope Skynyrd doesn't retaliate with "Sweet Object Oriented"..

Fantasy football fans can feel the pain..
Unabomber anyone? Not that he used kiosks, but someone else may in the future..

If you thought life in America changed after 9/11, multiply that by 1000 and you begin to understand just how destructive it would be.
"So you mean 911,000?!"

Why haven't we caught this guy? Why is he still putting mix tapes out?

Sinclair's using public airwaves. You have to pay to go out and see F9/11. BIG difference.
To think, Cheney et al ripped Kerry for being disrespectful of Alawi.
I despise, but have to admire the tenacity of these guys..
Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo is a solid, intelligently written blog. Leans left, but they all lean one way or the other.
Worse yet.. you conducted this survey in Topeka, right?

All vehicle DVD players or other video screens must be behind the driver's head and facing away from said driver. Problem solved. Sound reasonable?
But wait.. decent smart laws like this will have to get in line behind laws to take away citizens' fair use rights and campaigning!

I tell all my Microsoft-using friends to fuck off with their self-made problems, too..
Surely there's a way you can express your displeasure with MS products to your friends with a little more tact?
Whenever you append "&partner=google" to the end of a NYTimes URL, you're in sans registration.
We're still struggling to stop something as *trivial* as SPAM. What makes you think this system will be any more successful?
