If by the American Way of Life you mean working at Walmart selling cheap Chinese goods for minimum wage and no benefits, yeah, this is a big step in that direction.
Yeah, but some crapware is only crappy because it insists on auto-launching on boot up, even though you hardly ever use it. So yeah, Autoruns doesn't get rid of it, but it makes it a lot less crappy.
I don't mind the installs, disk space is cheap, but it wants to start a bunch of crap processes on boot up, and good luck killing them without mucking about in the registry. Slower boot times and a performance hit, thanks a lot, Apple!
Few people have more than two ISPs to choose from. If they both have service agreements that say they can screw you whenever they feel like it, what the hell are you supposed to do? String your own wires?
When it comes to broadband, there is no free market. If there is no free market, there has to be regulation to protect the consumer.
My organization has been looking to have a presence in Second Life, we have a small island for testing. Just went to a demo, and the presenter's avatar was wearing hip huggers that covered about half her ass. And if you're wondering, yes, Second Life avatars do have butt cracks. I can't really blame these companies for not wanting to be represented by a bunch of Britney Spears clones.
Older versions of NAV used to just kill the performance of my computers, and I did have one machine that was completely trashed by installing it.
But we're running the latest corporate, managed version of Symantec at work and it's really pretty good. On my 4 year old box running Windows 7 it's only using 3 Megs of RAM. After months of use I've had no problems with it. I guess old dogs can learn new tricks after all. But I still haven't installed it at home.
I work for a public Oregon university, and I know plenty of people who have been fired. Now if he has tenure it gets tricky, but that's a small minority of state employees.
even good guys make mistakes. I really don't see the point of this boondoggle, and the downside--more government surveillance--is huge. I agree Earl is generally OK, but I have yet to hear a persuasive argument as to why we need this.
There have been studies done that show that the vast majority of road damage is caused by heavy trucks, passenger vehicles have very little impact. Sorry no links, use the google.
I read 5 or 6 WoT books and realized Jordan was never going to finish the series and gave it up.
I read a couple of the Enders Game sequels and just didn't enjoy them much, but EG is till one of my favorite books. Wish Jordan would have started with a good, complete story than taken it on from there. But he did sell a lot of books...
Ditto. Jordan should have just wrapped it up after the first few books. But kudos to him for starting a series that has lived longer than he did. Beats selling cars for a living.
then the joke loses its....punch. "42" isn't funny now because you know it's the answer. The first time you read the book, there's all this build up to it and then...42. The second time around, there's no suspense, no tension.
I have to admit I could watch Dr. Evil say "laser" with finger quotes a thousand times and it would still crack me up.
"Then of course he died himself, which if he could have written it would have been hilarious. I mean no disrespect, but I think he'd have appreciated the symmetry."
I never really thought about that, but it's a good point. Thanks.
That would explain why it sucks so bad. Has to recalibrate every 10 or 15 minutes because my connection speed has diminished.
Yeah, I have crappy DSL, but Hulu manages to deal with it much better than Netflix via Silverlight..

Don't believe me? Hey, they did the same for global warming
I gave up on the series after book 8, now I'm all caught up. Can you help me get back the hours I wasted on the other books?

You make a good point . I think I'd choose convenience over logic in this case.
Perfect title for my next album.
Thanks!
Sorry, not all Vista drivers are 7 compatible. I just tried to set up a webcam with Vista drivers...no go.

Unless they repair refrigerators, of course.
I noticed the bowling alley on the first view, but didn't catch the BL reference til I saw your post and reviewed it. Awesome!
Like, "If you park your car in your neighbor's garage, you might not be able to move it when you want to"
Sorry, tht's the best I got, and I've got stuff to do.
Good point. That was the first episode I ever saw, had me rofl.
I do it all the time, and I've never had an acci
