meh, it is a liability. Why do a half assed job instead of a full 4 year degree? If you don't think people will wonder that, well they do when they are hiring.
.... or a non-microsoft operating system. Seriously, there are fewer and fewer reasons to stay with microsoft and they seem intent in making their operating system worse.
if it is a critical system then you have a contingency system. The first rule you learn is no one cares about your service / data as much as you do and if you trust only one infrastructure you are waiting for an outage. This is a case in point.
you cannot sell naked scanners if you don't get rid of the ones you have. What a waste of resources and more importantly a huge violation of our rights.
I get most of my news now from social media sites and from recent memory the most accurate reports are from mob sourcing data as it happens. I don't watch anything from big media now, because it is a product and not actually news. I could careless what the "network of reporters" is doing to push their corp agenda.
the only thing microsoft has been adding is clicks. The ribbon? More clicks to do the same tasks. This new win8 interface certainly sounds like more clicks to.
spreadsheets are popular, because the barrier to entry is relatively low compared to anything else. It is more or less visual basic for people who don't want to learn programming (or are not able)
micro-managing what people are doing will ensure they won't produce. When you only worry about what people are getting done and not when exactly it is getting done in the day I have had so much better results. I know how much effort it takes to do certain tasks. If you want to screw off all day and program until 4am, fine with me.
this only works if there is trust with management. I use to work for a company that did this and the upper management always picked goals that miraculously never could be met. This happened for years....
If the tsa is nothing then they could just give their budget to me as it is not needed. Everyone wins.

hard to believe anything they say after watching how the swedish government acts.

If only there were some lessons learned over decades and decades of mainframe use that that could be applied to the cloud.

if you have problems with paypal, your first mistake was to use paypal. They are not a bank.
It reminds me of No Silver Bullet in the book Mythical Man Month.

More clicks means less productive.
He has a very good case or I don't believe he would even try. Holding publicly elected individuals accountable is something that has precedence.
um, no. Has lawsuits stopped downloading movies and music? Figure out a coating for the cockpit glass. Fix the problem, not litigate it.
the US was founded on freedom. People that are willing to give up their freedom to "feel" safer should move to somewhere they can be watched 24/7.
the scanners are a money making scheme with no practical benefit. If there was no profit to be made I bet they would magically not be needed any more.

remember when we use to make fun of communists and their "show me your papers" paranoia? Now you appear to be a fan of it.
my contention is there would be no scanners if no one could make a profit on them.
if these scanners are so important why is rapiscan allowed to make a profit on them?
for every successful SELinux there are hundreds if not thousands of tsa. I think his chances are actually pretty good.
you do realize that even if piracy was impossible the pirates are not going to buy anything, right?
to me, that would be the more interesting article now that we know where he ended up.
