LOL... i wish i had some mod points... thats a GOOD idea... my keyboard sucks a bunch so i think ill have to wait for the annual used computer sale we have in my town... they always have dozens of clicky's for cheap...
Its more than jsut not being able to tax it. Many jobs are created in the process of hunting down/charging/incarcerating(sp?) drug users. Its a huge business.

I agree with you but what i meant to stress more was that this kid did what many other people want to do, pull off a hack and let people know about it. I remember when i was starting out with computers, it was such a thrill to know i could cause damage to other systems and meanwhile claim to be so much more superior to them. I am glad that i was able to be guided into a path in life where i DONT maliciously hack. Unfortunatly it was a long time ago that i first got into computers, the days of the BBS, in that time people were much more willing to help you out... guide you.
The problem with the big anonymous internet is nobody cares, people say "screw those script kiddies" but in my personal experiance every REAL hacker i have known started out as a script kiddie, i did. I can admit that i used to use tools of other people creation and use them for malicious activities, this is where everyone has to start. They hear about comptuers, they like the possabilities, but it can be too much too fast. Children need to be protected from more damaging things than pornography on the internet. If a child browses around for a while s/he could eaily find a way to casue real damage, THAT is what people need to be protected from.
When i used to use IRC a lot more iwould be talking in a channel and some newb would come on and say "teach me to hack". Of course this was an instant ban but i followed this person into personal chat and told them EXACTLY how to hack. Get books, read em, and experiment.
I think those out in the online community who understand about computers need to help new people. I personally hold all the elitist people out ther responsible for these attacks. It's their arrogance that fosters these people to lash out in violent ways such as scripted attacks.
regardless of what name you give me they ar all alike... they only understand 2 things... MONEY and POWER... so whatever you do try to phrase it in a form they will take to heart...
remember:
corporations have LOTS of MONEY
people have LOTS of votes which means lots of POWER...
its a conflict betweent the two as always but make sure you point out several things:
1. These laws/bills dont do much other than hurt consumers and add money to already rich people (try not to mention that those rich people probably give him money)
2. There is quite a bit of money flowing around copying of cd's/dvd's these laws hurt more than just consumers .
3. Your a voter and there are many more like you.
ok by "piracy" was not the legal definition... almost everything can be defined as "piracy" so i dont even pretend these stupid laws exist... its sad... anyway what i mean was there are all sorts of systems out there that are difficult to get your hands on... not just price but availability
yah thats kinda what i meant, it IS from the 1980's... personallyi i also ove my clicky... but alas it has passed thrugh many family members and is now severly broken... keys, cords, connectors... all in bad shape... but THERES HOPE... despite the fact that it is broken to hell every key on it still works.. i plug it in and cheap and dirty it just works... wonderful keyboards... right now im on a gateway2000 keybaord (the old kind) with the half sized backspace (no bigger than the regular old char keys)... but the WORST keybaord i have ever seen is the set of keyboard my school has on their compaq imac rip offs... its sick... the spacebar is split into 2 keys... the right one is a backspace... GROSS... i try to type and i end up hitting backspace all the time...
personally i use the K7S5A mobo... its uses the sis735 chipset so its not bad... you can find one for around $40 which is incredible considering you get onboard sound, onboard 10/100network, ddr & sdram slots, athlon/athlonXP/duron motherboard...
i know that this isn't the 'fastest' mobo out there but its VERY good if you want to set up a cluster... think of it...
so dont use VIA if you like it... get an Nforce if you got the money or a sis735/745 if your on a budget...
windows key.. you mean you havent bought one of those 'KDE' stickers and put it on there? what kind of keyboard do YOU use... one from the 1980's...

well it DOES require some skill but more importantly it requires time... personally i dont know ONE hacker, REAL hackers included that have not once intheir life thought "wow i could EASILY take out a system for no reason and brag and it would be COOL"... everyone thinks it so stop trying to hide it and work on it... maybe if these people could meet someone who would help them learn some ethics they could do so much more but because of the nature of the internet sometimes people are exposed to things that they might not be able to handle...
security through obscurity is NEVER a good idea... the only time it WOULd work is if nobody knows your there or nobody else has your same OS... i assume that because you browse webpages ebviously SOME server knows your there... this creates a security threat... what if you isp was compromised... what if a cracker took a list of your isp's customers and tried to hack em all... see what i mean??? you CANT hide if your on the internet...
and my second point is that Linux is NOT an obscure OS... there are ANY security holes known for linux and unless you compulsivly check bug fixes you ARE vulnerable... so i think that linux Is a fairly secure OS but dont hide behind you wall of "I USE LINUX EAT ME" bs...
i disagree that they are just getting a "decent amount" this 1% is not the kind that downloads movies here and there... this 1% is the kind the runs their own 24/7 server off their own connection and we all pay for it...
if we payed by the byte than it would be VERY easy for wide spread adoption of broadband to take place...
in fact i am SURE that there are many people ou there who would love to be able to pay $5 a month for super fast email download... why should they pay $50 a month for a couple of ebay page loads...
i think that this is a great idea but could easily be corrupted... i think that as a customer i should not have speed control on such a per byte plan... i should be able to download my 2 gigs a month at 1.5 megabit speed... whats the harm in that... if i payed for 256k dsl and payed for eveyr little K i downloaded i would be mad...
so i think that some ISP's should try this out and consumers should not expact that they get a free ride on bandwidth... nobody else does...
do you realize your saying "security through obscurity"?... i don thtink this is the way to continue... use an os becuase its good not becuase its obscure... gnu/linux/bsd/unix or whatever you wanna call it is a good start but dont hold on too so tight that your security slips away from you
i know this is offtopic so reply dont mod... anyway...
whats up with the inconsistent modding of google cache link... someitmes its modded up sometimes down... even the first time its posted its posted as redundant??? can we please decide what we people to do??? thanks...
ok so i forgot the n64 biut it doesn't matter you can STILL buy a n64 but the DC will emulate many consoles out there that would be very difficult to find/buy... emulating the c64 would be a wonderful use of new hardware... emulating the n64 would be piracy... see my point?...
there is much more to the dreamcast than just raw mhz/mb...
like the PowerVR2 architecture which at its time was state of the art and even now adds much power to the video card than you could otherwise...
let me tell you it is incredible to ba able to play your old ps1 games in 800x600 with anti-aliasing...
well as for my stats they are correct... the dreamcast has a Hitachi SH4 (SH7705) 128 processor with 360 MIPS/1.4 flops performance... not too shabby... as for ram it has: 16 mb main system memory 8 mb video memory 2 mb sound memory (compare to the ps2's 32 megs of main memory and a measly 4.. thats right 4 megs of video memory... so even though ps2 has rambus memory it doesnt matter because all of the bandwidth is eaten up quickly by the need to swap textures all the time...)
the video card is capable of full screen anti-aliasing, bump mapping, and many other wonderful things that one would ever want...
more than enough for linux and some cool OpenGL games... in fact i have yet to see a mainstream console system NOT emulated by the dreamcast (other than the ps2/cube/xbox of course)
in the interest of overall humanity we would wish to do one of two things:
1. We could phase out your genes... this means killing you or just preventing you from bredding (obviously this is NOT an acceptable course of action)
2. We could phase out your problem... diabetic??? no problem come over here and we can fix that...
so as you can see at this point its not about phasing out genes... its about making your genes fit in this world...
Again, buy a MOBO that supports the target speed of your overclock. The rest will then fall into place. The best way is to boost the Front Side Bus, and the only way on current CPUs, that way ram access is improved too.
isnt the idea of overclocking to NOT have to buy the super fast hardware in the first place???
and as for hacking the mobo you do sometimes need to solder on new parts... otherwise the old parts are pushe to their limit and technically they CAN run but stability is an issue for most people...
this is all very true... personally i have seen people use em as their firewalls in their own home... if you really want to play with a console go out and get a dreamcast... you get a 128 bit RISC proc with an openGL videocard and 16 megs of ram... fif i mention that the system can run at 800x600??? not only can it run them but youcan BOOST the res of your old ps1 games... nothing like playing gran turismo in 800x600...
damn view as html... lemme reformat that... oh god NOW i remmeber what "preview" is for.. i also know what sleep is for...
overclocking will reach its limits when a one of a couple of thigns happen:
1. the chip core cannot disperse the heat fast enough and the chip fries... no matter how bad as your fan is the heat must still be pulled away to the heat sink and then dispersed... if its hot enough it will fry the chip first.
2. to even get a extremely high overclock one must give the chip more voltage... this usually requires a soldering iron and some new capacitors and voltage regulators... very difficult and still wont speed it up...
3. the rest of the system cannot handle it... if the core logic chipset cannot handle the speed then your cpu and ram cannot speak to each other and any work the cpu does will be for no good cause you have already crashed.
