    Personally I've used a computer a heck of a lot and I only got pain when I combined it with:

    - playing guitar
    - doing a very repetitive manual labour "I press a button" job

    The pain would strike randomly and it felt like being electricuted on the arm. That pain travelled up the arm and trankfully stopped at the shoulder. Wasn't intensely painful but more of a shock, could cause a crash if you drive.

    The only was to stop it I found was to stop playing guitar and using a computer ....harsh eh? - naturally I gave the job up!

    I expect the pain you're experiencing is very different from mine. I guess to fix all you gotta do is releve the pressure on the wrist - or not use the wrist at all somehow;

    - for mouse: forms of input such as the web-cam + white piece of paper you attach to your baseball cap (!)
    - for keyboard: not sure if possible without lowering speed

    Be wary. Surgery has been performed on your sort of injury:

    People seem to forget that the purpose of driving is to get somewhere, so speed limits etc impede that.

    Cars are embarrassing anyway, dangerously designed simply because that's what's cheap.

    As an 80's kid growing up with moon landing as no big deal, people flying regularly and growing up with computers etc, I WAS AMAZED when I learnt to drive by how dangerous it is ... and it's what everyone does - drive round in a piece of metal, wholly in thier control, fuelled by controlled explosions. Why more people aren't killed I really don't know.

    Is this what the world has to offer? This isn't the world I was brought up to be expecting. Surely we can do better than this?

    "the stimulus driving the economy would suffer considerably"

    That's right. I believe that people would spend less money on Nintendo and have more money free to spend on something else, another market. If people are spending less on things that are mostly IP, like music and software, and more on tangible products like bread, milk and petrol, that leads to a more stable economy... and less waste.

    I think if someone wants to replicate the function of a companies` product and provide it to the greater good for free they should be allowed to, even if a minority loses out?
