Yes, I can see how having a song using all the numbers from one to twelve would help me remember the tenets (hey, at least you spelled it right) of my faith. "Jimmy, how many commandments are there?" "Hmmm... commandments... lords a-leaping... 10, ma'am!"
...negotiate a different license with the copyright holder. (This should be possible with most FSF-owned works, as they require copyright assignment of patches....)
feasible, in the sense that there's only one party to deal with, yes. Possible, when that party is an organization that exists entirely for the purpose of supporting Free Software and eradicating non-Free Software from the face of the earth? I think you'd have an easier time persuading Dubya to release Saddam back to his buddies in Tikrit.

Indeed, the whole reason I clicked on "Read More" was to search for occurrences of the phrase "make your time", so the post was valuable to me. But then, maybe I'm not the kind of reader/. is looking for.
The writer could have been thinking of "quell" when coming up with this word, as well.
The sad thing is, I myself submitted a story for Slashdot in the last 36 hours, with spotless grammar, clear writing, and cromulent vocabulary, and it got rejected, yet this guy's gets through.
Nice explanation. Just one modification: VIRII IS NOT A WORD IN ENGLISH OR LATIN! EXPUNGE IT FROM YOUR VOCABULARY! PLEASE!!!
Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Nice point that viruses are hardly found anymore. Although I think it's getting to the point where people are beginning to describe anything that spreads as a virus, regardless of the original distinction. Kind of like the word "hacker", though for "virus", the definition is being broadened rather than narrowed.
Our rights being preserved due to the efforts of the Chinese government is the last thing I would have expected in my lifetime, but I can totally see this. Thank God there are other countries (such as China, and Germany) out there whose governments won't just hand the keys over to any successful company.
Same here. I'm surprised he was not even mentioned in the article, as far as I could see (nice disclaimer there, so I can say I "read" the article but just "missed" that part in case someone proves me wrong). I'm sure he would have loved to hear about this.
BTW, for those who don't know, Feynman was a great American physicist.
Was it intentional? Did the high priests of the Church of Gates have a meeting where some V.P. said, "Let's find the most vociferous opponent of DRM and intellectual property ideas and name our system after him/her"?
As soon as I hit the comments page, the first thing I did was search for the word "ironic"... but didn't find it. Luckily, I then did a search for 'RMS' and found your post using the word 'irony' twice. Ironic that no one used the word 'ironic', huh?
Whereas I have yet to install vi on my Gentoo machine. I do get tempted every now and then, for something nimbler than emacs but more disciplined than nano, but those impulses only hit me once a month or so, and my doctor said they should get less frequent as time goes on.
Hey, thanks! Finally I was able to learn how quickly I lose interest in the names of the KDE developers:-P
I normally have my JavaScript set to not change the statusbar text in Mozilla, since I think it's evil and serves no purpose that is beneficial to the user.
Neo: So, I guess the obvious question is, if you're a program, how can I trust you?
Oracle: Bingo! It is a pickle, no doubt about it. The bad news is there's no way if you can really know whether I'm here to help you or not. So it's really up to you. You just have to make up your own damn mind.... Candy?

But amazingly, Snopes disagrees.

But by making it closed-source, that would violate their own mandate of using only open source software.
Of course, they might make their own changes, and only provide documentation to their changes in Vietnamese or something like that.
Nope. Berkeley DB is not text. You need the Berkeley DB API functions. Also makes it a pain to turn on/off Trackback or comments for all posts.

The J stands for Jackass? Why didn't someone tell me this earlier?

You mean like the South?
Barney: [dressed like Lincoln] But I'm not too crazy about our Stonewall Jackson.
[Apu emerges from the Men's room dressed like a Hindu military official]
Apu: The South shall [brightly] come again!

Thanks, man. This is exactly what I came to the comments page for.

I heard of one guy who loved it so much he named a programming language after it.
I shouldn't have laughed, but I did.

...well, that's not quite accurate; the U.S. is the only nation with a stargate, so in other countries, the Air Force is just for planes.

That's right. I think things I would never say...
Did you mean lojban? (804 search results) Or did you mean Loglan?
...why, M$ is sure to make MNG support one of its top priorities!
I couldn't have said it better myself. You got everything right here, including the part about the spit on the keyboard. Brilliant, man.
