There isn't even a third party program needed in Windows...you just type NET SEND * Message to send to all nodes or NET SEND NodeName Message for a specific node. In Linux you can do the same with "smbclient" or "sambaclient" (I can't remember which and I can't check right now).
According to the latest GamePro, the "CD-only version of Sony's own system [was] internally named 'Play Station X' (which is why you sometimes see the abbreviation 'PSX' for original PlayStation stuff)." So basically, that's all there is to the PSX name. As far as PS1 and PS2, I'd imagine it's just so you can tell the original playstation apart from the revamped one and from the PS2.
In this case I think asking why they would do this is appropriate. This is a public school network admin getting paid by tax money. Somehow I don't think making a screensaver do something cool across the network is a resourceful use of time.
I'm not so sure how good it's gonna be once ad-blocking browsers become popular with mainstream internet users. Marketing companies are just gonna end up replacing pop-ups with some other more invasive, more annoying, and more ridiculous ads.
(sorry, I'm feeling too lazy to make real links today, cut & paste)
You know, in the time it took you to write that apology, you could have made them into links;-)
I have a patch for this linux kernel thingie that I would like to submit that will be of interest to all Linux users. What this patch will do is inform you of discounts and special offers that you are elegible for. How can I submit this?
I'm a second year CS major and I see questions like this all the time and it makes me wonder if I should change my major. What do those of you who recently graduated with a CS degree reccommend?
For my technical presentations class, I'm doing a persuasive speech about why CD copy protection is bad and what we can do about it. I was wondering if anyone has any points of interest they think I should include (aside from the obvious no MP3 ripping, doesn't work in some CD players, etc.). Also, I am suggesting that in order to combat this we should boycott copy protected CDs. Anyone have any other suggestions as to what can be done about it. (I'm talking to college students and I doubt I'll be able to convince them to do any letter writing, so you can rule anything involving that out.)
of new generation cards forcing down the price of old cards, the old cards are simply phased out
Wrong...check out PriceWatch. You can still get old stuff from some suppliers for a decent price. For example, there's a GF3 TI200 for 70 bucks and A GF2 TI for 50 bucks. Even the prices on some of the newer GF4's are reasonable.
Case in point the whole Virgin thing is in question as prior to most Latin text Mary wasn't mentioned as being a Virgin.
The Bible says that Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus. That's not the teaching that has changed. The Catholic teaching that is in question is the concept of Mary's perpetual virginity after giving birth to Jesus.
When they drink they would use lead cups and drink ale or whiskey. The combination would sometimes knock them out for a couple of days! They would be walking along the road and here would be someone unconscious and they thought they were dead, so they would pick them up and take them home and get them ready to bury. They realized if they were too slow about it, the person would wake up; also, maybe not. So they would lay them out on the kitchen table for a couple of days, the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. That's where the custom of holding a "wake" came from.
Logitech came to a tech expo we had here at UCF. They had one of these on display and let us try it. Although I couldn't think of any personal need I had for this device, I do know that it seems to work quite well. In my experience with the pen, I didn't notice any wierd glitches that are often present in new technology like this.

Yeah...he knew that the server he made out of Legos would be no match for a good ol' slashdotting.
