Here in Austin, there is this place called Dave and Busters. Their selection of games concentrate on prop games, like shooting and driving, that are fun to play in groups. The best part is you can have a beer while playing the games. The overall experience is much more fun than sitting at home in front of your TV. People seem to become more and more introverted these days.
Curious. Expansions in EQ1/2 is starting to mean more vastness that will not be filled. Meanwhile, WoW is getting an expansion, and people are confused. Now...when D&DO comes out, expansions 'should' have a different meaning since D&D type P&P games live on from expansions. I am curious what fealing will be different. I think the mindset toward D&DO is different than other MMOs simply because of its heritage. After finally stopping my WoW habit, I am interested in trying out EQ2 or D&DO, but if EQ2 is going to be coming out with so many pay to play expansions so quickly, I am not sure I want to go that path. However, just having them available to me when my char gets high enough, is a welcome option.

Much like the SF series, each DOA game offers not just new characters and moves, but different tempo, rythems and over all feel. I so far prefer the Ultimate edition over any others, but that comes down to personal preference. Between online, graphics and characters, this new DOA offers enough to justify me to plunk down more cash on it, if I can ever get a 360 that is.
This is the first game in the 360 line-up that I care about. Now, if only two more games that are also good come out for the system my three game min req. will be fullfilled and I might actually pick up the system. By then, the system might be available also. I guess I am waiting on an official Gaiden 360 release date. Tecmo seems like they are one of the few companies that produced awesome X-Box only titles. When titles are cross platform, I tend to buy them for my PC or Gamecube.
...and CoD2 does not give the 360 justice since it is just a PC port. I say port because it plays like a PC FPS and looks like a PC game. This is in contrast to games that utilize powers of a specific console (DOA4, Gaiden, etc). There are many console games that can not be ported to PCs because they are architected for a specific console (GoW for example). If CoD2 is just one of the many games that the 360 will have that are mearly PC ports, I will take the PC version anyday, and forget the HD, I will take my extra high res monitor. I can't wait to get a 360, but I am using the same money instead for a 7800 GTX for now.
Everyone calm down. The current rating system does jack. It is only a rating system, and only a few states actually have to use them when selling games. What they, not she, are doing is trying to make the rating system enforcable by law. As a parent, this means my child can not walk into a store and get crap like the new Larry game. Now, i don't care about the nudity, I just don't want my kid buying crap. I support this.
Why would I pay $1000+ for a new PC when I already have one that can play CoD2 at those settings? The best part is, it does a crap load of other things too. I wasn't bashing the XBox in my post anyway. I was just pointing out the games I see showcased really don't help the XBox. They need to get a demo of something unique to the system that can't be compared to anything else and use that in the stores.
I heard this guy get interviewed on NPR, and he sounds like an intelligent guy, but I think he is over analysing things, and missed the point that MS just got the console out the door as fast as possible, which is why they couldn't stockpile them, as he questioned why they didn't. MS's only intention was just to hit the holiday season and get out as many as possible. The price they chose was only made in the attempt to second guess and match what the PS3 and Rev will sell for. They will most likely still be selling out when the PS3 hits the shelves, and if it is $700 on the shelf next to a $300 PS3, the sells will plumit. Start at $700 and lower $300 in the course of 3 or 4 months is unheard of, and will only scar customers. His idea of MS selling their units through eBay themselves is interesting, but that would only piss off retailers that MS relies upon.
I got to see the 360 for the first time the other day at CompUSA and it had this game on a small HD TV display. It is funny reading this article because I thought it was a horrible game to showcase in public since the game looked so dark. Shortly after I saw COD2 at Walmart and also thought it was a horrible game to showcase because it looked like an average game I play on my PC. I would suggest showing DOA4, or at least an exclusive game to the system.

Let's look at a modern day example; Take one of our best marines (or your favorite blend), take away his gun, and put some armor on him. Then match him/her against Bruce Lee. Bruce would win, and that is the same situation they would be in in DOA. [Man, I haven't argued about something like this since college]
Oh! and ha! obvious Troll against XBox since at least one DOA has come out on Saturn, Dreamcase, PS1 and PS2 also.
It is true, but this was a case of first gen mark up. Less than five months later, 64 games were down to the norm $50. Same thing when PS1 came out, and crap like Virtual Tennis was $60. First gen games are always high because they can. When the system is flooded with games they have to lower cost to stay compentetive.
There was also an episode of The Apprentice, where Sony wanted the team to paint a street graffiti picture on the side of the building advertising GT4. I guess they just took this to the next step.
Then there was the Strider 2 pack for the PS1 that also included the original Strider on a second disk, which is the closest version because it is the arcade version. Just remember that the disks were labled backwards. I was going to pick it up for a friend at GameStop, but noticed the Strider 1 disk was gone, which of course is the main game Strider 2. Both fun as hell.
Tecmo support is the only reason I am going to buy a 360, and actually the only reason I bought a XBox too. Love or hate Itagaki(sp), he puts out really solid games with good game play and graphics. Gaiden still stands up strong against anything new.

One of the best parts of getting together to play P&P games is just that...getting together. Even when not much gaming is done, the night is still a success.
I played the PC version of the first one, and I have to say it was pretty boring. I am not saying it wasn't a good game, only there are so many other shooters out there for PC that beat it. I agree with all those before me that say it is the lack of shooters for the system that made it big...PLUS! Many PC players today are actually scared of playing modern day shooters for some strange reason, and feal more comfortable playing console shooters. It is almost like they are intemidated. That and not being able to afford hardware to play PC shooters at a decent level. All these facts put together show why Halo did good in sales and popularity, and that makes it a winner.
What is funny is most people don't know that that third picture down's evil chili pepper is an advertisement for a brand of chips. I kind of hate them. Strange round spicy crispy things...
Putting this on my list to visit.
Was this a trademark reservation? You can't file for a trademark unless you have actual use or a speciman of the trademark.

Almost all first gen games are expensive. I still remember paying about $80 for all my 64 games when it first came out. What was I thinking?!?
