  1. Re:Success of first on Lara Croft's Big Comeback · · Score: 1

When people say something like that, hard not to beat it under 5 hours, a red BS flag goes up for me. I am guessing you did not play the game when it first came out. Even with training from modern games, first time players without a map would still average at more than 5 hours. Of course most modern day players don't even bother to play it because it doestn't have an in game map. Can you imagine if a game like Metroid came out today? A small un-formative manual, no map, and just plopping you down inside a huge maze?

  2. Dungeon Keeper 2 on Tough Times for Lionhead Studios · · Score: 2, Interesting

The other day I got to play a multiplayer session of DK2, something I didn't do back in the day when it came out. Wow, what fun! The only problem is keeps loosing contact when troop counts get high. I also loved the Magic Carpet series. My point is Molex can make games, but he is getting too caught up in the race to produce a game with everything, than focusing on core design, so we get these games from him that have a 50% core idea complete with several trivial ideas to fill in the space.

  4. Success of first on Lara Croft's Big Comeback · · Score: 1

TR1 came out back in the day where 3d games were sparse, if non existant on consoles, especially adventure 3d games. This is one of the main reasons it sold well. Very few people praise its level design or music, for example. TR2 had a far better level design and story to it, yet it was not deamed as well as the first solely on the fact that by that time, more 3d adventure games were coming out and people realised that there wasn't much to the TR series. Since TR1 was the first of its kind for most of us, we hold it dear to our hearts and overlook its many faults, much like many 70s and 80s movies which are no where as good as you remember them being.

It's not that Korea doesn't like the idea, they just didn't like having their IP belonging to Sony. But guess what, since Sony is footing the bill, of course they own it, much like working at a salary job; everything you make on the clock belongs to your master, unless state otherwise.

    1) Games were only a CD
    2) You know exactly what you want

Having the box lineup in stores is great when I kind of know I want a game, and I am out and about in the mall or something. It's nice being able to look at all the boxes and make a choice. Also, it's great getting a real manual, poster, etc. Sure, less and less games are doing this, but if you download your game, you will get nothing.

Doesn't Activision mean this games portrays the exact opposite of what it was like? Us slaughtering the indians, and not really having gunslingers everywhere...I am not indian, nor do I have any indian blood, and I think the ban is silly and activision saying this game portrays anything is silly. Activision should just say it is a work of fiction and any resemblance to any race or nationality is purely coincidence.

When I see a game uses an id engine, I can be pretty damn sure it will work on my system with very few problems. It is because he writes very VERY tight code and they do a great job testing it before giving it to the public. Sad to read that it looks like they are now going to be concentrating on the 360.

I played this for an hour or so and had to stop because I fealt like I was actually working and brought back memories of working at McD.

I still stand by those statements despite being marked as a troll. The beauty found in most of the 360 games, like DOA, is lost on standard televisions, making the system moot. This is probably going to be true for the PS3 and Rev also, and this makes me sad. One reason is it is another proof that developers are putting more time into graphics than game, which we all agree with. And I also stand by my statement that lack of inventory will now hurt MS as much as it helped them at the 360 launch.

  23. Responses are proof... on Sex and the Modern MMOG · · Score: 3, Insightful

Just look at the responses and posts in this thread. Only one was really informative about the game or subject so far. The rest make jests and jokes about the subject of sex in games. The reason adult content is not found in the US more often is because market research finds these kinds of remarks...giggles, pointed fingers...much like school children who find a torn page of a Playboy issue on the school yard. I for one would love to see sex introduced more in games. While this game seems to revolve around it too much, as a play mechanic, it adds to what we have now. Do you think being able to have sex in games would degrade the game to the point where everyone would be doing it everywhere? If so, what does that say about society? Maybe game rules should enforce sex like real life,ie no public nudity, etc. My point is, until you 'gamers' grow up a bit, this aspect of games will not.

  24. Re:Cancelations on GameStop To Fill 360 Preorders by February · · Score: -1, Troll

If I had mod points, I would have voted the parent up. While I only personally knew one person who cared enough about 360 to get one (and sell one on eBay), it seems the general push and excitement was strangled by the same force that made the launch so dramatic. MS knew a lack of stock would make the product exciting, but I don't think they thought about the after shock of people caring less about the system if they can't get to see it or get their hands on it. The major thing for me concerning all next gen consoles is the almost need to have a HD tv to get the benifits of these systems.

  25. He forgot one MAJOR aspect... on Review: Dead or Alive 4 · · Score: 1

The reviewer did not mention one major thing about the game, playing friends in the same room. Long nights of a group of close buds in the same room screaming and playing the game, laughing at each other's smack down. DOA series is the best for this followed only by the S-Cals, which really offer a totally different play experience. I like the VF series, but the play mechanics are not great for group related events. Tekken is to mind-numbingly-long-sequence-mash to fit the bill. The DOA series is not only fun to watch, but play. Moves, environments, sounds, chars, costumes, etc. It has everything to make an enjoyable experiece. I guess the reviewer, like many other game players today, is an introvert, and the only way he ever meets or talks to anyone is over the internet.
