  2. The radical change of Slashdot on Toshiba Builds Ultra-Small Nuclear Reactor · · Score: 5, Insightful

10 years ago, this article would have abounded with threads on how cool this is, and "I wonder if you could make a Beowulf cluster of those."

Now, it's all, nuclear is bad, nuclear is evil because "The terrorists might get it".

Listen to yourselves. You've eaten the terrorist propaganda the government has been feeding you, AND YOU LOVE IT.
"We can't do this because it might help the terrorists."
"Yeah, that's cool, but what about the terrorists?"
"If it weren't for terrorists, this would be awesome."

George Bush loves you guys, he's got you on his side and you don't even realize it.

    Here's the problem:
I don't know what size fits and Microsoft won't provide a dressing room to try the software on.
Once purchased and opened so I can 'try it on' I can't return it if it is the wrong size.
  4. Dear Mr. Reading Comprehension..... on Eight PS3 'Supercomputer' Ponders Gravity Waves · · Score: 1

No it hasn't and it never will.

When Dave Packard died, upper management and the bean counters started salivating.
When Bill Hewlett died in 2001, these same people instantly sought to change the "HP Way" to try and get a couple more percent in growth. The rest is modern history.

I commute by bicycle and do most of my errands that way too. The HOA directors have no concept of someone actually NOT using their vehicle.

  8. It's not your property, so it's not your tax on Taxes, Second Life and Warcraft · · Score: 1

All the people who had 4 day weekends couldn't POSSIBLY have had time to do their shopping from home during that time.
They will go into work on Monday, fire up their computer, talk about the holiday, do no real work, and get paid by their employers to shop online all day long.

The front AND back seats are missing because the car is being renovated.
The car is 2 states away from me, under a tarp, I suppose you could say it is "hidden from local police".

I sure hope my wife comes home tonight from her job, or I'll probably get picked up for her murder in the not too distant future.

It just doesn't make sense simply because if the person in question WAS a bad guy, he now knows he's being watched for sure, if he wasn't positive before.

More than likely this couple was 2-3 days away from their next billing cycle and JC Penney wanted their monthly share of ~21-28% APR on a $6,500 payment and just posted it late intentionally.
