And being a Linux Zealot is any better (or worse) than being a Mac Zealot? Putting Apple in the same category as SCO is hardly logical. Flamebait, Trolls, and Offtopic posts are what they are, no matter who's opinion they endorse.
Software licenses don't automagically make a company's product(s) "evil". No one's forced you to use OS X, and I doubt you've ever tried it. I'm sure someone like you could find something "evil" about every company in North America.
"Deal with an alternative viewpoint"? Spoken like a true Slashdot Zealot. I don't have a Mac, and I use Gentoo and SuSe, but your assertions that OS X is more proprietary than Windows, among others, is a steamy pile of BS.
How exactly is OS X more closed than Windows? More GPL'd software gets ported to OS X than Windows. Quite a bit of OS X is Open Source, in that anyone can view the code - as opposed to Windows and/or Solaris. If the hardware is so proprietary, then why do 15" PowerBooks have DVI-out, USB 2.0, Firewire, DDR SDRAM, and industry-standard 2.5" hard drives, and more? Also, SCO doesn't make hardware.
More than $50 is lost when you "cheat" on Xbox Live. When you get banned from Live, it doesn't ban your account. Oh no, there's a better way. It bans you're Xbox's BIOS checksum from Live.
Battlefield: Vietnam is set to debut in Spring 2004, and the Desert Combat krew has stated they'll be supporting it. Bot support for helicopters will be inevitable. God help us all.
You can afford to buy a PC beefy enough to run a "native port" of Smash Brothers for GCN, but you can't afford a $100 GCN and the game itself? Quite a few of the console games I've played that are ported to PC (Knights of the Old Republic, Deus Ex, Halo - sorry I don't recall any PS2 ports to PC) are fairly unoptimized. In fact, when was the last time Nintendo published a game for the PC platform?
Do you think I care whether or not I'm a software pirate? Or what others think? Because I have yet to hear of someone getting busted for installing Xbox games to their (upgraded) +100gb Xbox hard disk. Not only can I play bootlegged games, I can watch the latest movie rips.
I just want an adapter that lets me run rom's off a CF card. Buying a 128mbit rom device is expensive, considering quite a few rom's are 64mbit. I'm sure there's some technical reason behind not using CFlash, but it sure would be cheaper.
I agree - I doubt the PSX will be able to do PVR functions while the owner is playing games. Even then, I could still buy a Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, and TiVo for the same price of a PSX.
$100 Gamecube $180 PS2 $180 Xbox $350 + 100 TiVo Series 2 80 hours w/o subscription ---- $810
I'm sure they're trying to get the Xbox to output in both 720p and 1080i for this app. I think it will fare better at said HDTV resolutions when compared to titles like Enter the Matrix, while the Trex app doesn't look any more difficult to render than Simcity 3000. I think the biggest problem with running the Xbox at 720p and 1080i is that is was released in 2001, and HDTV-quality output wasn't a big issue as it it today.
Why not? Like all game consoles it's homogenous. That way you don't have to deal with the hardware failures, bug fixes, and licensing issues. You should be asking why they aren't using a PS2 or Gamecube, but that's their decision, isn't it?

1. Release virus to DDoS SCO
2. Go to federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison
3. ???
4. Sue your "girlfriends" for damages
4. Profit!

I've heard the following command is popular in some places:
$ man fsck
Or even better, Evil Bit Error Detection Correction. That way, when a political opponent accesses your un-condom'd PC, the EBEDC closes the "hole".

I think the PSP has Memory Stick support.
Civ3 for OS X has been out. I don't know when the Conquests expansion for OS X will be out.

Porting things to the Xbox does make it better. I use Xbox Media Center, which is based off both Xine and mplayer. It's great for watching movie rips.

720p = 1280x720 progressive scan
1080i = 1920x1080 interlaced

This has been already done on the Xbox. Aside from playing awesome PS2 games, a modded Xbox can beat the PSX hands down, at 1/4 the price.
And it has a big hard drive
You can add any size IDE drive to a modded Xbox w/ one of the more recent modchip Bios', 120gb with an older Bios
a network port
Xbox has an nForce chipset. Networked by default.
Divx/OGG from LAN
Already done.
games from LAN
Get PSOne, PS2, and Xbox games from Sharereactor (and Roms).
DVD ripping to HD
Use Dvd2Xbox to rip games.
streaming video via VLC type app
Again, use XBMC
Animal Crossing has some sort of Christmas event. In fact it has an event for quite a few holidays - Halloween, Thanksgiving? New years, etc.
What are they going to do when the Water Chip fails? Send Darl out to find one?
Other than the fact that most of the Gamecube mod scene is in Honk Kong.
I've read the Yellow wire (strobe wire as you called it) is used for light guns and the like. Possibly including Xbox Music Mixer Mike?
