Good to hear. This is a very promising technology. I remember seeing on TV not too long back, and fuel cell prototype for a PocketPC that just needed a few drops of water added to it once a day. It was sure a lot quicker add some water to the fuel cell than having to plug the thing in a wait around for a battery to charge. Now if they can just make them consumer friendly.
One of these damn things nearly killed me. I was coming down off a small mountain road that connected into a suburb. It was my first time driving it, and it was about 2AM, and raining. I was doing about 10 over the posted speed limit, and out of nowhere there is a loud "scream" and the next thing I know I've been blinded by a flash of light from the front right of my car. I swearved left, not knowing what was going on and my eyesight had a "burn" spot for the next couple of minutes.
Um, there's a big difference between Fox News and the Fox broadcast network. They are completely different entities. One is a pretty darn good all news cable channel (With slight right political leanings), and the other is the entertainment heavyweight that has brought us such goodness as Married With Children, World's Wildest Police Chases, and Futurama.
When I was living in Oregon, one of the smaller towns did just this, and I know of a couple others who were considering it. To cut back on costs, they outsourced law enforcement the town outsourced law enforcement to a private security company. I'm not sure legally how it all worked, but the private company had full authority to act as the police for the city. They ran a small jail (For drunks and holding people for transfer to the county facilities), issued tickets, investigated crimes, and arrested people.
Its too bad really, I'd have liked to see a private alternative to NASA. They've grown so bloated and unfocused they couldn't even pull off the space station properly.
Just look at the original proposal and plans, and look what they've cut it back to. All it is a big jobs project. And the Space Shuttle technology is so old they are having to scrounge eBay for old computer parts.
I'm sorry, but it just makes me sick. And we actually think NASA some day will send someone to Mars. Yeah right. We need someone to come along and either replace NASA entirely, or at the very least scare them into cutting back the beaurocracy and actually performing again.
It seems like a lot of work to smuggle a Dreamcast into a building, try to find a unused port and power outlet in a place that it would not draw attention, and hook it all up.
Wouldn't it be easier to just make the same software run in the background under WindowsXX? Then all you would have to do is spend 30 seconds at someone's computer who has gotten up to get some coffee or is out at lunch, to slip the disk in and install and run the software.
For many of us, their either is no mass transit where we live, or it does not operate at the times we need it. Or we have to transport items as part of our day to day activites.
You ever try carrying 3 17" CRTs onto the bus with you?
This was in Popular Science about 4 months ago. They showed several differnt concepts of how the new platform could be built. It's nice to see Wired is maintaining their reputation of being on the cutting edge, by posting a story that was already done in print months before. Par for the course I guess. What's worse, in the Wired article doesn't really add anything new.
For what its worth, at the urging of one of my female friends, I am getting into R/C airplane flying. (She bought one, so I bought one so we could fly together.)
I fly considerably better than she does, even though she has slightly more expereience with it. I credit my video game playing for giving me the quick relexes and hand-eye coordination neccessary to do it.
Otherwise I'd be crashing into the ground every 15 sec like she does.;-)
the female version. I believe played by the lady who plays Patsy on AbFab. Absoutely great episode, with Hough Grant, Rowan Atkinson, and many other famous people playing the role of The Doctor.
News has always been about selling ad space. Even so called "indie" news rags choose which stories to run based on the type of draw they think it will bring. The only difference is instead of targeting the "masses" they focus on niche segments of the market.
Its always been this way, and it always will. I mean, is something really being reported if no one picks up the newspaper to read the report?
The point isn't to replace high end animation, but to allow the little guy to quickly make computer animated movies. Sort of like low budget "indie" movies compared to Hollywood blockbusters.
We'd be able to see a lot more computer generated worlds created by people with a small budget. We'd be able to see a lot of creativity expressed that would otherwise be suppressed for lack of funds.
We'd be able to see a lot of gay CG cowboys eating pudding.
For those that are too lazy to read the story, the computers pre-loaded with Mandrake are going to be available at walmart.com, not at Wal-Mart retail stores. There's a difference.
Is Charles Manson's toe nail evil? If he eats eggs for breakfast, does that make eggs evil? Just because an entity, say Disney, is evil doesn't make everything they do or every aspect of them evil. So yes, Disney is still evil, even though they helped increase Linux market share.
This was all predicted in the 1980's, on a show called "Max Headroom". It took place "20 minutes into the future" where entertainment companies rule the world, and it is illegal to have an off switch on your TV or to play video tapes. TV's line the allies so even the homeless can watch TV.
And let's not forget our founding fathers (At least for those of us living in the US) practiced civil disobedience to a great extent when trying to change laws passed by the British Parliment.
Are we sure they're twins? Its been a while since I watched ROTJ, but I think the "twins" status is from the books, with the movies just saying they're brother/sister. Something Lucas has no problems disavowing.
Another explanation would be that Luke is spirited away to the Owens at birth, while Leia stays with Amidala for a few years before being turned over to the Organa's/Amidala is killed.

CompUSA current has the Sidekick on sale for $100 after rebates.

I don't know, it seems a lot easier to me.
Run a razor down the top of his head, and he'd look like Wolverine from the X-Men.

Meanwhile they're driving around in a VW van that could never pass modern California emissions requirements, and gets 8mpg.

Dear Mr. Anthony, I was just curious as to just how long one can keep beating a dead horse (Xanth)?
Wow, look at all those former colonies. Guess being ruled by the British had nothing to do with their driving laws.

Its only a matter of time until we get Blipverts.
Am I the only one who things these domes would make a great place to play paintball?

Does he now? Told you its been a while. I dislike ROTJ ever more than The Phantom Menace. So I guess I'll stick with my second theory.
