should they choose to later in their educational careers.
this really, really bugs me. almost as much as when adults say things like "you made a concious choice!" (to not get around to cleaning, or to have poor posture, or to not study)
no, I didn't. I never chose to not clean up my room, and I never chose (I'm a bit older now) to take optional physics/chem/biology courses, and I didn't actually choose to take an engineering degree. it seems like a small thing to old people (the adults who've forgotten what they knew as children), but really, it's bull.
I got decent grades in math and science, I got good grades in higher level math/physics, and I'm doing pretty good at engineering. but I didn't choose any of these paths. they're just what I'm good at. to take art history, that would be a choice. to take engineering, though, is in the same category for me as not cleaning up my room this instant. and I know I'm not alone in that.
and for those not familier with the subject (ie most people)
Svante Arrhenius theorized that bacterial spores propelled through space by light pressure were the seeds of life on Earth. British astronomers Fred Hoyle and Chandra Wickramasinghe rekindled interest in panspermia. They also proposed that comets, which are largely made of water-ice, carry bacterial life across galaxies and protect it from radiation damage along the way. Not necessarily a view I subscribe to, but an interesting one nevertheless.

breaking the law doesn't make one a bank robber, no more than writing perl scripts makes you an erotic trekkie.

a few weeks ago, I was sitting on the computer (what else), when I heard a *thud* and the entire house shook. it was like an earthquake.
the cause? a local bird (I don't know what they're called. think really big, really fat pheasant) had flown into one of the exterior walls. not a window, mind, a wall. It sat there for about 10 minutes, stunned (time enough for me to take pics of it demolishing a tomato vine), then it stood up, wandered around my yard for a while, and flew off.
I know houses these days aren't built as solidly as possible, but it still must have been going at an incredible speed to do that.

Fun Fact: That Guy stopped the tank. for a few minutes while command decided what to do. he then got run over! I know this post was made in sarcasm, but its important that people remember, the job of the military is to kill, and it hasnt been stopped by ethics in the past. so that wont be much of an advantage when they take away the human driver.

this could mean that cars and industrial waste aren't as big a problem as was thought. that's great, but it's still a problem, as the smog of LA isn't caused by forest fires, I'd say
more practically, tho, we still want to find a way to stop this. could it be caused by the human races continued mismanagement of the forests? after all, el nino has happened before. we seem to be becoming more and more prone to it.
I think modern forest-management needs to take a major turn, and it isn't the one usually advocated. stop stopping mild, natural fires. they clean out the undergrowth, and stop major forest fires like the one in BC this past summer (that caused the evacuation of about 150,000 ppl)
and in reference to some other posters comment, don't be silly. we can always blame this on gwb. that's what people do, after all
(I just tried it out. this isn't an informed opinion, just mine)
as gameplay goes, they have a long way to go. it's laggy as hell, respawns you exactly where you died, that sort of thing, but like the description said, it's just a demo.
grahpics, on the other hand, look decent. not excellent, but not too shabby. now, if only they'd release all this gpl, we'd have a 2nd half-decent OS FPS.
as a (canadian) soon-to-be voter, I think there will be 5 sites to replace this one if it gets taken down.
Of course, as a canadian who hates Paul Martin because he's pro-nuclear proliferation, pro-american (nothing against the american people, just their messed up government), and pro-big business... I think I'll be doing up one of those 5.
hehe. you, me dear random stranger, have amused me, enough to get my lazy rear off the computer to go to sleep. I salute you, and fear the day you are rammed off the road by my blind aunt. cheers!

this is quite an important decision.
freedom vs. usability?
freedom vs. laziness?
the difference is strictly opinion, I suppose
personally, I hope it disappears, but I can definetly see how that would hurt some people.
read the article!

no one worth there own pocket change claims the BBC has no bias. it just has bias similiar to a lot of people who read news
everyone is bias, as some dead person once said.
trite but true, as always.
'lies, damn lies, and statistics'.
and just for the sake of using quotation marks,
'never underestimate the power of large groups of idiots'
of course... this explains so much...

price. silicon is dirt cheap, gaAs not.

Anyone know of any non-adobe windows pdf viewers? I've looked a bit, but I've yet to see any that don't involve cygwin
it really says something, when a post about raising an army of geeks to take on Microsoft is labeled 'Insightful'. Oh, what a world ;)
a lug isn't chopped liver, but it isn't a family member either (consider the number of adults who use their friends/children as tech support)
