She was right about that (it was probably in the book anyway) she's still an idiot. She'd make up non-sensical statistics ("one third of teenagers will die in an accident on tomorrow"), gave stupid (bigoted) reasons for statistics in the book. She, as a black woman, said that so many black males get AIDS is because all black men are closet homosexuals, she also said white girls dont get AIDS because they dont sleep around. Our 200 point final inclded 50 multiple choice worth 3 points each, 25 matching worth 2 points and 10 short essay each worth 5 points. Also her grammar was terrible and she affected this really fake amalgam of a british/caribbean accent. In case anyone wants to know, thats Ms. Golden, heath 'teacher' at Milwaukee Rufus King International Bacheloriate High School.
I remember from freshman health class (it was a couple of years ago though) that females are born with all the eggs they'll ever produce. So an average woman only had about 500 or so eggs in her entire lifetime. Thats unlikly to change despite and extended lifespan. I'd think that even if menopause didn't happen, a woman would just run out of eggs after 50 years or so. Somebody wanna correct or confirm this, i'm not sure if i'm remembering right, and my health teacher was an idiot.
I think an escalator would be the worst place to pickpocket. I'm on an escalator, and my headphones go dead, i go to check my mp3 player and the guy behind me is slipping it in his pocket, i'm gonna pop him one and send him tumbling down the escalator. Cant really slip off into the crowd on a moving staircase.
Heh, must be a local thing. Here in milwaukee we have like 6 major commercial stations, 2 rock stations... 2 adult contemp/alterna whatever stations, and 2 hip-hop/top 40 stations. Radio used to be better, but now theres one decent station left.
I was going to reply to this thread, but parent poster hit the nail on the head. Seatbelt laws are to save the taxpayers money at public hospitals, nothing more or less sinister than that really. That and the whole saving lives thing...
When i hit the switch on the powerstrip, by the time my cable modem connects, the wireless router has booted, and is followed shortly after by my computer. Although you shouldn't have to be constantly booting network hardware.
No, the nacelles generate the warp field, which is used for propulsion. This is strikingly similar to deflector shields, which are produced by the big blue thing between the nacelles and under the saucer section (in the common saucer/body/2 nacelle configuration). The deflector shields though, are different from the shield shields, which protect from phasers and torpedoes etc, not sure where those are generated from. Deflector shields are a practical idea in the real world though, and something similar is absolutly nescesary for space travel at any practical speed. E=MC^2, so if you're traveling half the speed of C, that random micrometeorite grain of silica (assuming mass of one mg) will hit your ship with energy equaling 22468879500 Joules (somebody wanna correct my math? 1*10^-6(.5c)^2 its late, its been 2 years since physics and i've had about 6 shots of jameson's...). Not sure what that is in tons of TNT or hydrogen bombs though...
But unfortunatly we aren't at the point where we can extract resources and manufacture things in space or in a low G (the moon) location. Also, i dont know if theres an abundance of suitible materials for physical shielding (lead, vanadium etc) easy accessable to us off planet. So for now we still have to shoot stuff into orbit and that means we need to save as much weight as possible. Although less weight means less mass which means less energy needed for ac/deceleration, so in space there are still some advantages.
So i havn't seen the images, but in the conception of futurama, i know they based a lot of the artwork and the technology within the show on predictions of the (our) near future from the '50s or so. Its really aparant, especially in the first season of futurama. The design of the planet express ship, the tubes everyone travels around in, all the traffic signals and streetlights hover, and all the other stuff like that.
The original or what got changed for syndication. IIRC the original last line was bart cutting in with "Quote the raven; Eat my shorts!", that line wasn't there last time i saw it on tv. They edit futurama on Adult Swim sometimes too, which is maddening... They cut the professors line "Sweet zombie Jesus!"...
Ever borrowed a book from a friend? You horrible copyright infringing thief you. Why is sending your friend a copy of an e-book any worse than loaning you friend a paper copy? Oh yeah, its digital, computers are new and scary.
Despite being carbon based life forms, carbon is not good for us. Not sure about nano-tubes, but i can attest to coughing like a 60 year old 3 pack a day smoker for a week after shoveling out a coal room in an old house friends of my parents bought.
The whole "Beer bad" thing is hilarious, i pointed out durring DARE in 4th grade how riduculous some situation was. We were watching an episode of family matters and there was some rooftop party where this huge punch bowl got spiked with like a fifth of something, and after having two sips or so urkle was dancing precariously around the ledge of the building etc... You undermine your whole message when kids realize the real world isn't so cut and dried, especially when they see their friends, who aren't crazy bums on the street, or criminals, or bad people, socially smoking pot or drinking.
Already expressed my opinons about your game the other day (more thumbs up), but just curious about your first paragraph, old or new cartoons? They've really toned down cartoons as of late, watching old roadrunner or tom and jerry or sylvester and tweety cartoons i'm shocked at what they got away with, no wonder people used to have issue with cartoon violence. Not that i'm offended myself, but growing up in the 80s with cartoons like that, its amazing to see the old cartoons where tweety pumps sylvesters head full of casoline or tom cuts up jerry with a knife or whatever... Yeah, just my own musings on the subject of cartoon violence...
I think this would be a lot quieter than either option you suggested. A good cpu cooler can make a difference in overall noise, but i agree, isolating the case fans with those rubber dampeners has dropped the noise level a couple of dB. Case fans are a good first step since they're more easily replaced and you dont mess up your warantee. Thats if you bought a prebuilt system though...
What about those algae that produced hydrogen when deprived of something (nitrogen?) and exposed to UV light or something like that? Whats happening with those?
That it was uncopyrighted. The copyrights are just held by the bands/indie labels/whoever owns MP3.coms archive now. And to everyone whos saying they would never sue me because i'm not sharing their music, look at who they have sued... Grandmothers with Macs unable to run kazaa, college professors with the same name as artists etc. Its not unthinkable that they would make the mistake of going after someone sharing music whos copyrights they dont own or uncopyrighted music (its not that hard to get a hold of uncopyrighted music, public domain works such as classicle are easy enough to find). Anyways, IIRC there have already been artists or labels who aren't afiliated with them complaining about the RIAA thretaning people who are doing whatever with their (non RIAA) music.

it wouldn't have to be large, it would just have to spin really really fast.

Airsoft pellets still hurt like hell. Your only in trouble if your attacker is actually armed...

Hope they dont see this.

Flipping the bird at 400 million years of evolution.

Without a semi-relevent Penny Arcade link.

How about a T-shirt.
