  1. Try Amazon... on The Joy of Random Shuffle · · Score: 1

Its a little time consuming, but i put all my discs (CDs and DVDs) into my Amazon DB. You log into your account, surf to the item, then click a checkbox "I Own This" then it gives you an option to rate it. I havn't bothered to rate anything, but the "Your Recomendations" page is really usefull now. It'll recomend movies that are already on my list to buy, it'll let me know about new releases from artists i have, and if it reccomends something to me i've never heard of i'll download a few songs or listen to the samples on amazon and a lot of times buy the album. Its really kinda freaky how well it knows my tastes. And a lot of the recomendations are cds and movies that my sister has already that i borrow a lot. Its a little time consuming, but inputing everything to amazon is definitly worth it.

Heh, please try to explain how sneaking in your own food/drink to a movie theatre is morally wrong? If i go see a movie at the mall, they have 12oz (or whatever the small size is) sodas for $2, or, right around the corner, is Sam Goody, that has 20oz bottles of soda for $1 (thats the only think i ever buy there). Also the good movie theatre here, with the Ultrascreen, is a parking lot away from a Target, and the Target has half an aisle of "Movie Theatre Candy" (wink/nudge), for about half what you'd pay at the cinema. I wouldn't mind paying a little more at the concession stand for the convinience and a product of comparable quality. But i'm not paying $10 for a large stale popcorn and a soda thats mixed wrong.

The downside of these interfaces is the ridiculously high processor and memory requirements. All that extra graphic manipulation comes at a price, and I for one don't see any reason to waste processor cycles.
Nope, a 3d GUI would shift the power behind it from the general CPU to the dedicated GPU optimized for that type of work. High end graphics cards, not just for gaming anymore. I bet longhorn will have graphics requirements of at least 128mb along with the gig or ram and 3Ghz cpu reqs...

Google IM, with alerts from Gmail would be great, they could possibly build on the jabber protocol, a big player behind standardization is always good. This might be going a little far, but online currency would also be good, but maybe not for google... We need something to replace paypal, something that could actually be regulated. One of the problems with paypal is that they're not accountable for their actions, because they're not a bank. You take these big doorstop chunks and coat them in steel, just like M&M candies, and then you put them in a rocked and fire them out over land. That way, if the rocket crashes, you just go and pick up the M&M'm and try again. But the rockets won't crash, and the plutonium gets fired right into the sun."
