I've wondered about this before. It would probably work depending on the technology of the cameras, since most CCDs can see IR. Those licesnse plate covers that cut down on the viewing angle or are tinted are illegal most places, but i wonder if active denial would be. Its not radio frequency jamming, so its not like radar jammers and other devices which are illegal, and it would be invisible to the naked eye... Hmm.

My own fault for not re-securing it, but i still printed several pages of goatse on his shared printer before i booted him off my network. I agree there is a bit of herd mentality, but is that really an issue if the product is actually good? Blizzard has a helluva reputation, and IMHO its well deserved. WoW has lured away hardcore EQ addicts, everyone i know who played city of heroes, guild wars, SWG, etc has since switched to WoW because its so much better. I found myself with a lot of downtime last summer and although id wanted to play an MMO, i hadnt seen any that interested me, im not that into fantasy and was looking for something more sci-fi. But i was sick of waiting for Stargate Worlds and decided to give WoW a try, i knew many of my friends played, but they were all hardcore and had multiple 70s, so i didnt even bother, i let it pick a server for me and started playing. The next week, i was maybe lvl 10 and got an email that i'd been invited to the Tabula Rasa beta, a sci-fi MMO that id been interested in. I played for about 2 hours before i got sick of it and went back to WoW. Just because something is popular doesnt mean its bad or that its popular only because of the bandwagon effect. I liken it to iPods, yes they are a trend, but theres a reason theyre 90% of the MP3 player market, because theyre good players compared to the rest of the market which is 90% crap.

  10. They already do this... on The Economics of Chips With Many Cores · · Score: 2, Interesting

Sort of, as many other people have said, about overclocking and such, its not necesarily a scam, it makes things more cost effective for the company and can benefit the consumer who would take the effort to overclock. Lets say Intel (or AMD, doesnt matter, they both do it) does a run of chips. The specs call for the chip to run at, for simplicities sake, 2Ghz, with stock AMD cooling. But no manufacturing process is perfect, and lets say 25% of the chips arent good enough to run at 2ghz without frying. They then clock these chips to 1.5Ghz and sell them as such. This allows them to do a smaller run of specced 1.5Ghz chips and save themselves money. Its not really a scam, theyve been doing this forever, and arent the only industry to do it either. In this case, the consumer can benifit. Someone can buy a 1.5Ghz chip (although they might have to exchange it till they get one of the ones from the 2Ghz production run), and most of the time it'll run fine at the 2Ghz speed with improved cooling.

565 hours / 9 months (sept to may i believe) is roughly 2 hours a day, so i averaged about 3 episodes a day, not as bad as it sounds.

And for the record, i have a job and live with my fiancee.

As for my overall opinions of the franchise...

Enterprise, definitely watchable and definitely underrated. Never watched it when it aired, but the 3rd and 4th seasons were better than a lot of Voyager.

TOS, good, has stood the test of time pretty well, but not fantastic.

TNG, also good, but soooo overrated. I was a little young when it was on (1yo and 8yo), so i hadnt seen much of it, its all pretty good and there are some classic episodes, but its definitely overrated IMO.

DS9 was a rewatch for me, but it was as good as i remember it and is still my favorite series.

VOY, another rewatch, worse than i remember since i was still only in middle school when it was on. It got off to less of a rocky start than TNG or DS9, whos first 2 seasons were pretty bad, but voyager got worse as it went along. Overall i think i liked enterprise better than voyager.

    And the movies dont require much comment, i think the accepted order of best to worst is 4, 2, 8, 6, 3, 10, 1, 9, 7, 5.

It was a fun experience, and i recommend it, its not as daunting as it seems, 2 eps a day and you can do it in a year. Part of the fun for me was watching them in chronological order, which helped break up TNG, DS9 and VOY, although i still had to watch 2 seasons of voyager straight through. Interesting to note, the finale of TNG and the premier of VOY are only separated chronologically by the first 7 episodes of the third season of DS9.
