In the game Red Faction, there was the most impressive physics I've seen yet in a First Person Shooter with the world changing when you shot it (until some depth:(( ). Lets say there was a door and rock around it, why opening the door, if u can blast your way around it:). You could shoot a pillar and it would fall correctly (well, 95% of the time). It was possible and cool, but sadly for the game, it wasn't used enough.
On a side point, the quake engine "exploits" which allowed StrafeJumping, BunnyHopping, RampJumping, etc.. is one of the things that actually made it more popular for hardcore gamers, it gave them an advantage which needed much skill to perform. In fact, they knew it was like that in the Q2 engine and even made it easier in the Q3 engine. Rumors say it won't be like that in Q4 tho.
In his spare time?? Have you even played Quake online in your life?? The weapon dominating 90% of time is the rocket launcher, and guess who engineered it into the game...
It can also be a grenade jump with quad damage. OR he can just change sv_gravity to -10 or something until you reach space.
Actually, I'm not sure it's possible. I've tried that using the Quake engine and always found out that even tho it looks like space, it's just a wallpaper stuck to cube.
I guess real astronauts use NoClip cheats...

I know many people, that think the only text editor exists is Notepad and the only IDE editor is the one in M$VC.
It's great to see that people here have so many different editors that "just fit them". Obviously I prefer an open source one (on win32 boxen I use GVim) but if you prefer a commercial one, go ahead and use it.
The thing I like is that people aren't locked down to a specific editor (as I noted with Notepad) but actually do something for themselves and gets a normal editor.
From friends recommendations: Slickedit and jEdit are very popular.
The Half-Life engine the most used game in current online gaming due to one thing, the mods and especially CounterStrike.
Valve software has released many tools and the SDK for creating mods. One mod becomes extremly popular. Other people think they can make cool mods too. Some of them are successful (Day Of Defeat is EXCELLENT!) and then other people make mods. The mod community is huge. Even tho the engine is really outdated...
Also notice that the fact the engine is old actually helps the popularity since it works on almost any computer (including *nix'es under Wine whenever the native doesn't exist).

What does beautiful eye candy help you if it works slow?
I have a Linux box and a WinXP box. When I installed the XP, the first thing I did was to remove all the useless eyecandy, such as fading in and out. It only makes menus slower to get to. The whole XP UI seems slower and heavier than before, with no improvment in usability..
I don't want to see this happening to KDE. I want the UI to work fast and smart.

Do they mean terrorists that blow up stuff or "terrorists" that download things illegaly?
I can't really tell.
Nope, sorry!
But I guess that's what happens when you only develop software and not see girls...
For those who didn't understand, the parent was sarcastic...
It's very common to see lamer/cheaters/whiners w/e in online games, especially in the CounterStrike community.

Are there any left? aren't they all biased towards money and big corps?
Don't forget the DMCA has passed.
Yes... DoS them back, as stated in one of the previous posts..

"When it's released"
We are optimic today aren't we?
Or in my case too lazy to convert Fahrenheit to Celcius and then figure out my AC doesn't have a temperature setting (just "fuzzy" blue lines).
With all respect to the benchmarks, ATI was "cought" making drivers with game specific optimizations (Quake / Quack etc).
Check if this is the case here. Might not be, but it just might, which should be taken into consideration.

Maybe I don't see well... But I don't even see a Windows box in that page. Only Mandrake and Lindows.
Moreover, the "Not available in stores" is only on the Lindows description and not in the Mandrake's.
Even if there's a Windows box there, the fact I didn't find it in a glance may mean others won't either.

God is dead.
Mod the parent up, and not as funny. This might be the sad truth when Palladium comes in.
