As most iD games, it'll be written in OpenGL but with tons of extensions, this will change when OpenGL 2 is finally out and kick DX from it's place.

Also, it might be noted that Gestures and Pie Context have alot in common, because getting to the right menu is a kind of gesture, but you also have feedback on what is going to happen.

    This is a first alpha..

Remember the Ogg Vorbis first alpha? The sound had alot of glitches and it wasn't as good as Mp3, now it is.

I agree that video is alot harder than audio, but I trust community to get it as good and even better than DivX.

What your mean is something as simple Oggdrop. A small box, a few settings, drop a wav in it and you got an ogg. Simplicity at it's best.

  13. Re:Sad state of the affairs... on State of Online Music: RIAA's Efforts Paying Off · · Score: 1

The parent is modded funny, but it's not funny, it's cold truth.

The RIAA is after money, money from people who buy their CDs, their CDs are merchendised, made for people to buy _NOW_, it gets boring fast, people buy more short-lived CDs.

If people hear good music, old music, obscure bands, they understand how bad the RIAA supported "music" is ==> CD sale loses, and that's what they are trying to prevent.

Not to be a troll, but this is my view on this:

I understand from your words: "If you can't fight them, join them."
Read, if they can bribe politicians, why can't we?

How can you be sure that the politician the money goes to doesn't ask for more and give less than expected? How are you even sure there is a politician that is willing to help?

A politician recieves money, and then recieves more money from a different corporation, he acts for the big corporation and all the money spent has been lost.

If there is some politician that will aid in this, fine... If there isn't, the money would be better spent donating to Free/Open Software companies/organizations that really need the money to help and not just a slight chance that the politician will stay on "our" side.
