It gives perfect compatibility for DS software, less cluttered and more power efficient compared to previous solutions.
The only thing you lose here is the ability to run GBA software (I mean home brew of course, no piracy.. no not me!). This too can be solved, using a reverse pass-through device to allow GBA software to run from the slot1 cart :)

That said, rumors floated around for an official media player based on one of these carts...

BT was not intended to be used as classic P2P program in which different clients try to push bits to one another but rather a big server pushing bits to many small clients.

Actually, they can revoke a key of a SINGLE player for a quite low cost.

    It is done like this:
There are keys on the nodes of a binary tree where the leaves are each individual player.
Each player has all the keys on the route from the root node to itself.
In the beginning, the movie encryption key is encrypted using the root node key -> everyone can decrypt it.
When a player key is found and needs to be revoked they then stop encrypting using the root node but rather choosing to encrypt, multiple times, using the keys which are NOT on the route from the compromised player to root node.
    For example:
                1
          2/ \3
        / \ / \
      4 5 6 7
    / \ /\ /\ /\
    8 9101112131415

User 9 knows the keys 9,4,2,1.
Movies are originally encrypted with 1.
Everyone can decrypt it because they know key 1.
    Lets say 9 is revoked.
Next movies are encrypted in multiple copies with the keys: 3,5,8
That way, everyone except 9 can decrypt the movie key.
    8 has 8
    10 and 11 have 5
    6,7,12,13,14,15 have 3

It's actually a pretty neat system.
Surely, each single movie's key can be publicized, completely sidestepping the whole key-encryption system.......

It happened with the PS2. It's possible it will happen with the PS3 aswell.

Historically, the PS2 was the hardest console to program for in the last gen due to the non-standard vector units and what not. However, market forces made it worthwhile to try and squeeze the machine for all it's worth, keeping it competitive for a very long time and producing some amazing feats in the later crops of games.

Unless Sony will lose considerable of their market share / brand name, it will most likely happen again here. The first games will be OK while the later games mind blowing, at least technically.

The X360 is a far more streamlined machine much resembling a PC, making it much easier to program for and in result, the current level of games is probably close to what you will see near the end of its life cycle.

Same goes for the Wii, which is based on the Gamecube, meaning all the experience gained from programming the GC will stay when programming for the Wii, at least graphically. Therefore, the current graphics are probably and unfortunately also close to the machine's maximum output. Surely, with the Wii there's the very young area of control which will eventually mature and will be second nature for Wii games.

Pick it up now in the form of jDoom, it's still great and ages well due to the added high res and mouse look.

The only things that really make newer games better is technical things like unlimited save points (instead of checkpoints), more customization of UI/tweaks, increased resolution or good scaling, and generally more refined controls.
For example, I really can't think of playing an FPS with anything other than WASD+mouse right now except maybe a Wii-mote. Or playing a 3d platform game without an analog stick.
