Gearheads wasn't misused. It's an old-school term for techies, usually applied to COBOL'ers but also to assembly-language guys. At any rate take yer C- and shove it up yer ass.
Thank you for reminding why I hate this fucking site. Expressing an honest opinion seals your fate? Oooh. What fate would that be? The fate of not getting the admiration of my fellow gearheads? Excuse me while I search for some kleenex.
What the appeal is of 'Futurama'? Besides Bender, this show is tough to watch. How does this show survive but Greg The Bunny and Undecided get cut? I know Fox owes a lot to Groening but 'Futurama' IMHO just isn't that good. I don't know if I'm alone on this I'll shut up.
Can individuals actually *get* a credit limit in the millions of dollars? Who are these people? I guess my *real* question is, who's impulse-buying million-dollar ticket items?
This may not be the same thing, but what you're describing sounds a lot like what limewire has, which is a three-star/four-star ranking system the represents the quality of a given file, and you're allowed to submit your 'vote' for a given file as well. I think as the record companies continue this little ploy, more P2P app's will have this feature. Anyway what the record company is doing the online pr0n biz has been doing for a while now.
I just bought a ticket on-line for the 7:45pm showing in Redwood City, got there an hour early to wait in line to get in, found a nice aisle seat when I did and saw a kickass film.
Which it really is. All this complaining about the wooden acting and cheesy dialogue...has anybody ever considered that maybe Lucas is writing the dialogue intentionally to keep the series feeling like the old-time Saturday Morning serials, complete with shiny spaceships, red planets, ripped tops and, yes, oftimes grandiose and stuffy dialogue. And Ebert can stuff it. He gave TPM *three* stars and this one *two* stars. If he honestly thinks AotC is a full star worse than TPM he's completely out of his mind. Go see it. Go see it again. Oh and the guy who ruined parts of it for me with your fuckin' sig, I got people looking for you. )
I agree with you. IMHO, the general public's ignorance of these devices is the only thing keeping the TV industry's ad-based business model afloat. That and maybe the price. But as the price and ignorance subside, the Napsterization of TV is all but inevitable. Agree?
This is slightly offtopic, but do you ever wonder why the TV industry doesn't launch an ad campaign against the use of PVR's like the ReplayTV 4000?
I mean, can't you see it? Kelsey Grammar doing a 30-second spot, explaining how skipping commercials is really a crime, and explaining how ads pay for TV programming, et cetera? After all, it would be pretty cheap and easy to launch for them to launch such a campaign.
I believe I know why they wouldn't dare do such a thing. Because the very concept that somehow manipulating content that comes into your home is a form of theft flies in the face of common sense. That's why these bastards are taking their fight to the courts, where common sense is almost a liability. But I'm glad to see some sense has come back into the courts with the latest ruling.
You start introducing this kind of legislation, and where will it end? I have a feeling all it would take to limit games like EQ would be for a couple kids to storm into their high school during lunch wielding swords and morningstars and slaughtering other students. And I have a feeling if, *way* back when I was a kid (70's/early 80's) that if a couple of D&D players had decided to act out some scenes at the local mall with the mallrats unwittingly playing the part of the orcs, that D&D would have been banned altogether. And I would have never gotten the opportunity to enhance my creativity and problem-solving skills at any early age (things my parents never understood).
Good one.
But am I the only one who finds just about every character class you can play "work"? I mean, I've only ever had one character, a Ranger, and man whenever I get in a group it's always "Okay Ranger pull, okay ranger pull, okay ranger pull..." And I either end up pulling too many, so am blamed for the slaughtering of the group, or too few, and I'm a jerk for not keeping the kills nice and tight. I've never liked the collaborative nature of the game because most (not all) people who play aren't terribly polite or social to begin with. The cliquey nature of groups, and for that matter of guilds, is a huge turn-off for me. And, I'm also sorry to say, I think it's boring most of the time. The only time when things get interesting is when the combat is so heated you're not really sure what the outcome is, but even then you're just a glorified spectator, hitting the 'melee' button when it's time to press it again. The game lack a *role-playing* element very badly. It might be time to jump back into DOAC again...
...those guys from 'Sneakers'? Man they were good.:)

A lot of people didn't read the posts. Here's the part you didn't read:
we found an Advertisement at BestBuy.com yesterday that proclaimed "VisionTek GeForce4 Ti4600 for Special Pre-Order Price of $129.00..the savings is a $200.00 Value". Normally a "typo" or mistake would be something to the effect of a misplaced decimal point or an accidental wrong price. It usually doesn't consist of adding terms like Special Pre-Order Price and savings is a $200.00 Value, ( since it sounds reasonable $129.00 + $200.00 savings for a card announced that day with no real set price yet ) all over the advertisement. So we did the right thing and CALLED. BestBuy.com confirmed the price of $129.00 twice, at which time they gave us the $200.00 value / saving quotes.
That sound like a typo to you?

Well, if you don't believe in God, you have no morals, so you're going to lie anyway.
They should just change "Under God" with "You're sooo good-lookin'". :)
...less Windows and Mordor. Geeze I just crack myself up...
Completely off-topic so mod at will, but I thought Moff Tarkin/Robert Carlyle (sp?) was s'posed to be in Ep 2. Wha happen?

Yeah, well, let's not forget that this was the same guy who gave "Phantom Menace" three stars.

Licenses for the usage of Simpsons (tm) characters aren't cheap.
