Almost all of those servers were rebooted when the patch was installed, too, since our server room had scheduled downtime for a planned power outage a few weeks ago.

I guess that I can't complain too loudly, though. The patch was free, and we got what we paid for.

I just hope that Google's management is careful about managing it's growth, and doesn't allow the bean counters to take over and end the era of free gourmet lunches and time for creative side projects.

People have already been giving Kyle Bennett a hard time about those ads already, so I'm surprised that he escalated the issue even further by being one of the few hardware review sites to give it a positive review. This would be a great idea if Windows power management actually worked half decently. A lot of the Windows XP machines that I worked with crash when you put them into standby mode, and even more of them will not come back out of standby without an application hanging or a hardware device disappearing from the hardware profile until you reboot the system. I'm not sure if it's a problem with Windows itself or with the drivers that manufacturers are releasing (probably a mix of both), but it's certainly not something that I could rely on if I had open applications running when I was away from my desk.

I have a hunch that this blogger is a Mac user, and hasn't experienced how bad Windows power management can be. My Mac Mini comes in and out of sleep mode without any problems (as long as I don't have my HP printer plugged into it), but that's a lot easier for Apple to do considering that they more control as to what hardware and software goes on their systems.
